Problem loading the web browser engine
« on: September 07, 2014, 05:20:41 am »

Using a Dell XPS (SSD) 16GB mem, Windows 8.1
Just installed version 200012 of MediaCenter
In standard view: Services And Plugin --> Amazon i get the following message:
"There was a problem loading the web browser login"
Similar result with other websites trying to open in MC.

In Options I have tried to set Web Browser to be both IE and Chromium
Same result.

This works with version 19 on the same machine

I can't find any sensible solutions in the other threads.
I have tried to reinstall a few times e.g with IE set as default browser (then Chrome as def browser). No luck.

Any suggestions appreciated.

That's really a mystery.  It's not working with IE or Chrome?

A full re-install might help.

i Uninstalled both v 19 an 20 on the PC
Then installed ver 200012 again, and now I can see that Norton Internet Security has removed jrweb.exe
Threat name : SONAR.Heuristic.120

I then downloaded and installed ver 20010
and it worked !

A copy from clipboard below:

Filename: jrweb.exe
Threat name: SONAR.Heuristic.120
Full Path: Not Available
Details
Few Users,  Very New,  Risk High

No idea why Norton is complaining, but just suppress it.  If JRWeb.exe isn't allowed to run you'll get no browser, which is what you saw.

You should report it to your AV maker as a false positive, there is nothing we can really do about it.
