Missing Files
(1/1)
jazzMD:
Your install routine erased almost 1TB of mostly FLAC files on my HDD. I guess deciding not to replace MC19 was a mistake. I am really disappointed.
JimH:
That isn't possible. Try a search in Finder.
jazzMD:
I did. They were not there. I recovered 75-80% of them from a backup. I need to re-download the lost ones now. Thank you. But seriously, correct your install routine: IMHO, it's kind of ridiculous that MC20 doesn't replace MC19; that should avoid a lot of confusion and potential mishap for the neophyte. Just saying.
JimH:
I'm sorry, but there is no way that this is a problem with Media Center.
Files can't disappear without user input.
glynor:
MC doesn't automatically transfer the Library (the database of where the files are on disk) but it certainly did not delete any of your files off of your hard drive.
So, they wouldn't have shown up in MC itself when you upgraded. For that, you'd want to restore a backup of your Library from MC19, as explained in the other thread. But it didn't delete the files themselves.
I'm also confused about what you mean by "install routine". MC doesn't have an installer on the Mac. You just drag it from the DMG and put it in your Applications folder, like most apps. I think, perhaps, you're confused.
If you explain in more detail what exactly happened, calmly and without jumping to conclusions, perhaps someone here can help.
