i use Dvdfab to take my  blurays  and make them into mkv's. i am having an issue that once Dvdfab starts its process MC opens. It has caused MC to crash. i went into options and turned the blu ray auto play to do "nothing". Is there anything else that needs to be set to keep MC from opening. i am using windows 8.

You may want to change it back after.  But you can try this and see if it helps.

In your main screen type "Program Defaults"  You should get "Default Programs" pretty quickly.

The click on the "Set Your Default Programs" option.

Go down to "JRiver Media Center 20" and select it.

Click on "Choose Defaults For This Program".

Go through the list and uncheck ".mkv", and maybe ".bluraydisc".

Click on "Save".

If you want MC to automatically play these formats later you will need to reverse this when you are done ripping your Blu-Rays.

If you're ripping to MKV, you could try MakeMKV and see whether that is a friendlier option.

I've never had an issue with. It's donateware, so you can use it for add long as you like. Just requires regular beta key updates.
