MJ8 nogo for cd burner
« on: February 03, 2002, 06:27:39 pm »

I just recently created a new profile on my computer, for my friends, so they won't have complete access to my computer when I'm not there.  I have a Plextor, but MJ8 doesn't doesn't see it.  I have MJ7.2 installed on my other profile (amazing how win2k works!) so I can still burn, but I don't like having to flip from profile to profile.
Ok, so it's Beta.  That's fine.  I don't mind Beta.  I've worked on Beta before. . . but my burner is a widely accepted burner. . . what gives?

Hi,

I've got the same problem, tried a lost of things, but nothing works. So, now we were two with this bug. I'm using a Teac - just one question: do you use SCSI to connect your burner? I do.

I've got a LG 8080 CD-Burner. All the last versions of MJ8 just crashed after choosing "Burn CD".
This latest version of today says "Failed to find any CD-R/W devices on your system."
The  "Check for updates"-function automatically installed the CD-Writer Plugin already...
In the optiions menu under "CD Writer Settings" all fields are grey and I can't change anything. When I first entered this settings menu the right CD-recorder was displayed as before. But then I clicked on "Detect" and all was gone.
I did not have these problems with MJ7.

Please try the next build and let me know if it works better. Might do an uninstall first and have it remove registry entries.
Thanks, and sorry for the hassles.

Back in burner Hell. 8.0.198 does not recognize my Plextor IDE 12x. It identifies the E Drive as the Plextor, which it isn't - the E is my CD-ROM. In the meanwhile, the G Drive (the real Plextor) has entirely disappeared from My Computer, and all opf the diagnostic tools.

This happened to me in a very early build of 8, and G reappeared just as mysteriosly as it disappeared.

When I try to initiate Burn CD, I get the following error message:

MEDIA JUKEBOX caused an invalid page fault in
module at 0000:78941470.

Anyone else run into this variation?

Reinstall?

JimH:

Yes/yes. Brushed and flossed too. The icon for the second drive has now reappeared in the Tree view and My Computer - signs of progress. MJ still reads the burner as a CD-ROM and tells me I don't have a recording device installed.

I'll fiddle with it some more, then do a hard reinstall. Didn't close out folders or clean Registry the 1st time.
