Audiophile - On TechTV
« on: February 02, 2002, 01:14:09 pm »

Today, on Audiophile on tech TV they said Philips will be selling CD writers that will overcome the Audio CD protection of the new protected disks.

It also seems that they do not want any protected cd-roms labeled with the "Compact Disk" symbol that is stamped on all cd-drive units and audio cd-roms. they want the RIAA To Lable them "Fake CD's"

It seems Philips maybe on the consumer’s side (Or they want to sell more New Cd Drives)

I knew this would happen. Not that a company as large as Philips would release a product like this, but that somebody would. This is really great news. And the whole "Fake CD" bit is just icing on the cake. Next Page

It is a friend of mine's opinion that they are doing it to force the death of the CD, and change everything over to their SACD format...

Always look for the ulterior motive.

This is like something I talked about in December, changing the hardware to create another (possibly secure) format, also taking advantage of new technology (Possably Adding New DVD technology into it) since the creation of the original Audio CD.
