Can't "Import Media" with MJ8
« on: February 01, 2002, 11:20:48 am »

I just loaded MJ8 on a new Dell.  When I "Import Media", it will only import "mma" files.  I've tried selecting all types of media, I've un-installed and re-installed, etc.  Am I missing something?

P.S. I'm running Windows XP Pro on a Dell dual proc machine.

If you click on the |PLS| next to "Media Library" do you not see files?

What drive are you searching?

Try the browse button with the three little dots.

What other files do you have.  Can you play them with MJ?

I think I figured it out.

I also have Roxio EZCD creator 5 on the machine.  If it's installed, MJ will not import any MP3's.  If I un-install EZCD, it will.

There seems to be a conflict between the two.

Hope this helps.  It would be nice to have both running on the machine.

Say it isn't so.  Can you provide any more details?

Here is what I know.

I had version EZCD Creator Basic 5.01 on the machine, with the XP Patch from Roxio.  The first time I installed MJ8, I got a weird message about half way throught the installation about "Installing EZCD creator, please insert CD" etc.  I ended up un-installing both MJ8 and Roxio, then re-installing MJ8 and it installed fine.  Then (before importing media) I re-installed Roxio and the XP patch.  After that, I tried importing Media.  It read through about 13000 files and imported two that were wma files.  I tried several settings and tried importing some MP3's with no success.  I just tried un-installing both Roxio and MJ8, then re-installing MJ8 again without Roxio.  Now it works fine.  All MP3's were imported.

Does that help?
