Hi,
Quick Play has been fixed to include smartlists (thank you!).

However, I have a playlist that includes both a playlist and a smartlist and the top level playlist isn't listed.

Here is some weard stuff

early today i was trying to figure out how to "Disconnect" and get my library back.

i was logged on music01 and loaded my library, the users name was still at the top, "Media Jukebox - UsersServer"

now my database has the location of his ip address

sample
m01p://80.13.186.85:81/C:\Documents and Settings\mark farmer\Desktop\Music\Dj_Dreamer_-_the_Silence_radio_edit.mp3

that is not my IP address...

it seems i will need to dump the database and rebuild it.

Bug:

1. mini-me does not display Winamp skins very well and/or consistantly.  I'm using the v7.2 Media Jukebox skin.  MJ displays or redisplays it improperly and messes up the Playlist on return to mini-me display.  This has been bugged for a while in v8.0 betas (that I've seen).  When the Playlist is set in non-rolled up mode, MJ always restores the Playlist as if rolled-up, but with non-rolled up screen (truncated...bottom 1/8" of non-rolled up screen)...unreadable/unuseable.

Digital CD Playback doesn't work in MJ. It works fine in WMP8. Analog playback works fine in MJ.

If I have the CD-ROM set to ASPI, MJ just skips through each song very quickly.
If I have the CD-ROM set to IDE, MJ plays the tracks, but there is no sound.
If I set the CD-ROM back to ASPI, MJ crashes when I try to play. <- it's stuck here, presently, it no longer skips through them quickly, it just crashes

MJ hates wnaspi32.dll in this build. If I try to access any kind of ASPI function (burning CD, playing CD's in digital mode, trying to detect the CD-RW). My past trick of deleting wnaspi32.dll, then redetecting the CD-RW, then copying wnaspi32.dll back in isn't working.

And if I don't have wnaspi32.dll in place, all attempts at CD burning fail.

Bug (or unorthodox feature):

1. When updating a list, if you press to delele the current selection(s), after the delete finishes MJ always scrolls to the top of the list.  You lose where you were in your list/editing and have to arrow/page down to where you left off.  MJ should just delete the selections and a leave the focus point in the list where it was.  If the track where the focus point was is deleted, MJ should just place the focus on the track following the deleted focus point.  Again, this jump to the top of the list (or to the currently playing track in Playing Now) gets annoying after only a few deletes (especially on a list with 100s of tracks that you are selectively deleting tracks from).

Choosing Reset on Top Hits & Recently Played doesn't do anything.

Using the Next\Previous Playlist command from a remote control sometimes causes a crash in either mjplayer.dll or ntdll.dll.

Okay, here's something. I decided to follow my own advice and I downloaded the wnaspi32.dll from Nero (like I've been telling everybody else to do). Turns out the copy I had was about a month old and there is a newer version. So I copied that into system32.

All of my wnaspi32.dll crashes are gone (for now). If I try digital CD playback with the CD-ROM set to ASPI, MJ skips through all of the tracks very quickly like it was before. If I try digital CD playback with the CD-ROM set to IDE, it plays fine. If I set it to Auto Config, MJ automatically picks IDE. Maybe it's been trying to tell me something all along?

That still doesn't explain why it didn't work at all with the older wnaspi32.dll. If digital playback isn't using ASPI, then why would it affect it like it was?

Strange. But at least my problem seems to be fixed now.

Wow... I just realized that almost all of the bugs I've found are gone... pretty soon I won't have anything to complain about...

Nah... that just means I can start bugging you guys about Remote Control stuff and Quicktime support in earnest. Next Page

And just when you thought it was safe...

If I'm listening to a CD while in mini-me, MJ quits unexpectedly when the track changes.
If I try to play a CD by accessing it via Quick Play while in mini-me, MJ crashes, reporting mjplayer.dll as the culprit.

These problems only happen in mini-me. Skin doesn't matter.

Request : Can we get a Quick Skin menu along with Quick Play?

For some reason, I've got two Rotar's listed in Skin Manager. If I physically remove the Rotar skin folder from the MiniSkins folder, Skin Manager still shows one listed, and if I try to select it, MJ complains that the skin is invalid.

Request : Not sure how doable this is, but can the Enlarge Menus option in the Vis Display only take effect in full screen mode? Or maybe have all three modes (fullscreen, MEGA-ME, and mini-me) have their own Enlarge Menus setting? It's nice to have a large menu when working from across the room with a remote, but it's a little bit much when I'm dealing with mini-me.

I posted this under the "Can't create playback control thread as well":

I have gotten the "can't creat MJ plyback control" error in both 195 and 196.  I am running Windows 2000, on a Dell Pentium 4.  No proxy, no firewall.

MusicEx TrackInfo template : This is nice by the way, but there's a typo. The Title field has an extra T in it (not the label, the actual field).

Matt - re DSP - again - it's not worked for me in any of the v8 buids

For Virtual Sub and Surround Field -
1. Select the DSP icon and the menu appears
2. Select Virtual Sub or Surround Field and the drop down appears
3. Make a selection from the drop down and the description DOES change to your selection
4. If DSP was off, the action of step 3 WILL TURN IT ON
So far, no problem....

ForEnvoronment, Intelli-Volume and Replay Gain -
1. Select the DSP icon and the menu appears
2. Select Environment, Intelli-Volume or Replay Gain and the drop down appears
3. Make a selection from the drop down and the description DOES'NT change to your selection
4. If DSP was off, the action from Step 3 WILL NOT TURN IT ON

- I can see now that filter is on or off in the popup, but is it possible to put the name of the included or excluded playlist in there
and SKIP or PLAY type ?
- Can there be put a "select all" in the right mouse menu if in devices (my usb device)
- Is it possible to have the current TIME somewhere when in full screen mode ? (e.g. on the bottom bar in the right corner)
- REMAINING_TIME always shows 0:00 and TOTAL_TIME = LIVE in mini-me mode
- Getting cover art from the internet does some weird things. If you have an album of e.g. Prince - Purple Rain and some of the songs has
the image inside the ID3V2, and the others don't have an image, when retreiving from internet and then saving NOT inside the file, I
have to do this twice before it works, so first it gets the picture and saves it to the directory I've specified in options but the
image is not attached to the file, when retreiving a second time, the file is attached correctly.
- When in mini-me and visiualisations are turned on, when mimimizing and maximizing again, the visiualisation is gone, this also applies
to Equalizer or Playlist or Track info, when clicking again on one of the options, it comes back, but is gone again after minimizing
- Right Mouse button in taskbar does not work after a while when miminized

Bug :

When selecting a playlist to 'Send To' in the target, only the first playlist
get selected. i.e. : if I try to select playlist #4, the playlist #1 will be selected.
This bug was present in 8.0.195 but not in 8.0.189.

and many thanks for the bug fixes and new features !

In full screen mode the buttons on the toolbar are not displayed correctly.  Most of them are completely gone and if you hover you mouse over were an icon should be it sometimes comes back, but even then it flickers and threatens to disappear again.  If you know where the button is you want to push, it works, you just can't see it.

Are you using the WMP 8 skin that I made? It's got a bug in it (somewhere) that causes this. I can't seem to find it though. This doesn't happen with skins that J River made (although none of them have a minimize button - I had to change one to test). It might be a bug in MJ, or it might just be a bug in that skin.

Nikolay> Is it possible that there's a bug in Metamorphis in the way it handles Child Windows? I notice that the only skin having this problem is mine, and it's also the only one that uses Child Windows to display these components.

Import media seems to scan all drives no matter what I type in the Search combobox.  If I use the ellipsis to select a directory, it will just scan that directory, but if I type in a directory (d:\mp3) and hit enter, it scans all drives.

There's something funky going on with the main menu (File, Edit, View, Player, Tools, etc).  In several instances, the title words have a greyed out/disabled appearance.  They still work when you click on them.

Two bugs:
1. Playlist flickers in Winamp-mini-me mode.
2. Changing the performance controller has no effect. (checked in the registry.) But changing the value in the registry gets shown in performance controller, so view is working, but moving the slider has no effect. After pressing OK and reopening the window, slider is set back to value defined in registry, not as has been set in MJ itself.

A feature request:
1. Disabled Vis in Winamp should result in transparent field, not just a black window below time, because using a cool MacOsX-skin (WHITE!) looks really bad! Isn't it possible to make the MJ-window transparent?
2. MJ-Vis is much too small in Winamp-Window, couldn't you add a Winamp-Like-Sprectum Analizer using colors of Winamp skin like Winamp does itself.
My already mentioned MacOSX-Skin looks really good in Winamp, especially by using StyleXP for making Windows XP look like MacOSX!!
Only in MJ, I really miss this Winamp-visulization. By using the skin-color it looks more integrated into the skin than MJ VIS!

Greetings
Rüdiger

Hi Doof,

The problem with the mini-me is in my own created skin "wmclassic" which has been submitted to mj also.
I started from an existing mj skin to create this.

I'll try the mj skins and will compare the code to see what's wrong.

Thanks,

In "settings" - "playback options", try to select "source bitdepth" and hit ok.
Leave settings - and then go back and check: it is back at 16 bit.

I have a SB Live Value with front and rear jacks.
From the time Direct Sound was implemented till 195, both worked fine.
Before Direct Sound, I had to go to Windows Media Player to 'prime the pump'.
It would crank the rear speakers on.
Then with Direct Sound, the rear speakers cranked up, just like they should be.
Now with 196, I have to prime the pump again with Windows Media Player.
At first I thought I was mistaken and felt there was another problem.
So I rebooted several times just to make sure - powering down in between - and it remains true that something in 196 changed the way Direct Sound activates my sound card, particularly the rear speaker jack.
Any ideas???

MJ would freeze and crash computer when I start the burn CD setup and the program detects that the disc is not writeable.  This happens, of course, when I have a CD on the drive other than a CDR. I've to reboot the computer each time.

If you're using a library from a UNC path, MJ resets back to "Default" when restarting.

Also, if you're using a UNC library, it shows "Default" as the loaded library when it isn't. Sometimes there is no check by any library when one is loaded.

During file playback, scroll to Custom 1 field for that file, right click, rename, insert info. Click again anywhwere in content view, playback stops, MJ freezes,, Have to exit through Ctrl Alt Del.

Checked it repeatedly. Same results in different fields.

This new version doesn't see by CDR either.  Maybe it has to do with the fact it is drive E.  In addition, the volume slider does nothing.  I have to use the standard windows volume control to do anthing.

Bugs:

1. With 'Support extended tag fields (ID3v2 tags)' turned off, MJ still creates ID3v2 tags if you use the Album Artist or Custom 1-3 fields in Media File Properties.  With this option turned off, the user does NOT want MJ to maintain these fields in ID3v2 tags in his/her media files...just in MJ's database.  Also, the user knows that if he/she deletes the media file from MJ and reimports it, he/she will lose those custom field entries and have to reenter them.

2. Media Files Properties does not provide a way to a remove only ID3v2 tags in its Remove Tags function.  So, MJ adds ID3v2 tags, but does not provide the user with a way to remove those erroneously added tags.  Ideally, the Confirm Tag Removal popup dialog would have two checkboxes for ID3v1 and ID3v2 tag removal.  As is, the user must use an external tool to remove specific ID3 tags.

3. The Org Tree and Content View windows are not refreshing after Media File Properties update.  I selected one file, brought up MFP, added an Album Artist and clicked Save.  The windows did not update, so it looked like nothing happened.  I hit F5 [Refresh] and now I see my update did get saved.

Column headers are resizing themselves down to the point where the header is cut again.

ZRocker> I think I figured out how to get the Previous Burn function to work. After you burn a CD, just click the Burn CD toolbar button. It'll ask you what kind of CD you want, not sure if it matters, but pick Audio CD, then on the CD Burn screen, Choose the Repeat Previous Burn option and there you go.

FWIW I prefer the columns to size down to field contents, not header.  I know what the data is w/o looking at the header.  When I size down, I'm looking for best fit of DATA to the screen.

Using Vis-Studio is was able to make Sprectum Analyzer look almost like the one from Winamp in mini-me-node.
Just the color settings I cannot link to the current Skin.
Could you add an option to Vis-Studio to use color settings as saved in viscolor.txt in winamp skin directory?

Thanks
Rüdiger

After I upgraded to MJ 8.0.196, I lost many types of music generes based on custom entries. I had to respecify about half of my MP3's.

Otherwise, I realy like new interface!

OS: Win 98II

I can't play any of my mp3's and I tried to download the latest mp3 plugin. I get a message stating 'only input, dsp and visualitions can be added'. This does'nt make a lot of sense to me - anybody out there able to help please?? In plugin manager, I can't uninstall or install. The input plugin for mp3 shows only as mp2.

thanks - Jim

Two rotar problems.

The issue is with "Plaid".

Inside the credit, top line. It says the name of the skin. In plaid it says "Rotar".
It should say "Plaid".

You can download plaid again and overright the older one by downloading this version uploaded at deskmod.com

http://www.deskmod.com/?download=3828
or view ths kins listed there. Only 3.

Editing a track's properties (either in-place or using the Properties dialog) while the track is playing crashes MJ on my system.
