connecting to a remote computer

I was told you could use JRiver to connect (say) a home computer with an office computer.  Is that true , and if so how do you do it.  Previously I have used Logmein.  does this work in a similar fashion?

You can share your Library with a remote computer, and stream media to it from the Server:

It is not a remote desktop application like LogMeIn or TeamViewer.
