proxy support on Mac?
« on: October 21, 2014, 07:19:19 pm »

I'm trying to install MC20 for Mac at work where I'm behind a corporate proxy and I get failures when trying to open any URLs including license refresh.  Does MC20 support proxies?

I believe, on Windows at least, it uses the proxy configured for IE, if one is configured.

Is the Proxy set up in Safari and/or System Preferences?

Yes, my proxy is setup and working correctly.  All other programs work fine getting out to the public net.

I don't know if this would work, you would have to try and do a little research.

On Linux, I can export a system variable HTTP_PROXY="http//proxy.address.com:8080" to get proxy support in a terminal and most other programs, without having to configure a proxy in each program individually.

I don't know if this works on OS X too and I don't even know if MC would work with it - you have to try. I would test it for you but unfortunately I don't have OS X or Linux behind a proxy at work.

My proxy is setup as a system-wide proxy (which sets http_proxy in the environment).  Is there a proxy setting in the MC options (I couldn't find one) or is it supposed to use the system defined proxy?

There is no proxy setting within MC (at least user-exposed).  I'd guess it is supposed to use the system one.  I don't know, honestly, if it even works on Windows.
