mp3 quality-pops/noises

occasionally downloaded mp3's have pops or brief noises which affect sound quality, not the type that you get from mp3's recorded from lp's, which I can remove with GOLDWEAVE, but rather something that seems to be a upload/download problem.  Any suggestions as to how to edit them out?

You can identify most of them and delete them in "media editor". They show up as spikes.
The results are less than perfect but better than a pop.
