Wrong number of movie channel shown
« on: December 02, 2014, 11:48:50 am »

In theaterview, MC shows the correct compression (dts-HD, True-HD, etc...) of a movie but with the wrong number of channels. It shows 6 channels with my 7.1 channel movie. It should show 8. Is this a bug or am I missing something?  Thanks.

Have you selected the 7.1 audio track?  perhaps there is a 5.1 audio track as well.  Just a thought.  I know in my Star Trek Voyager episodes, there is a Stereo track and a 5.1 track.

Due to technical limitations DTS-HD is shown as 6 channels in some places right now. There is a topic on the wiki which details how to make sure DTS-HD actually plays as 7.1 despite this display, but since I'm writing from my phone right now I can't produce the link right away. Maybe someone else will be so kind. :)

Do you have the dtsdecoderdll.dll file copied to your computer?

See the HD audio section in the wiki. If you don't have the dtsdecoderdll.dll file, you will need to find it on the internet with Google since Arcsoft's TotalMedia Theater is no longer available.

It plays in 7.1 as shown on my avr as multi channel in 7.1 but the channel info when viewing the movie cover art only shows 6 channels instead of being 8. Does anyone else see this also? Thanks.

As I mentioned its a technical limitation and cannot be resolved at this time, since DTS-HD is an extremely complex audio format.
