20.0.45 (12/8/2014)

2. Fixed: File transfers to PonoPlayer were much slower than doing it via Finder.

20.0.44 (12/5/2014)

1. Fixed: Automatic recognition of PonoPlayer was not always reliable, especially if there was a long delay before user clicked the 'transfer files' button on it.
 2. Changed: More informative status text in the firmware download action window.

bug report - volume control visual feedback
« Reply #1 on: December 09, 2014, 05:38:41 pm »

When Pono Music World is open the volume control visual feedback is missing for any other (non-Pono) applications I have open. If I quit PMW (Pono Music World) then the visual feedback for volume behaves as expected in all other applications.

When i transfer songs to my pono 1, 2 song transfers quickly and get status complete then every following transfer
goes more and more slow and get status Error. In the end most doesn't even start, it just says Uploading and then
goes straight to Error without any percentages shown.
Not sure if this is a bug or if it's wrong with the pono.

Edit->Tag menu item advises that I can use ALT-Enter.  However key command sequence does not work for me.

Thanks for fixing F1 to get to Help Contents.

I like the "How to" submenu under Help.  Really, that's a great addition.

The Help->Support Forum item currently takes the PMW user to http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/.  While
this is good to expose PMW users to the bigger JRiver community, won't it also be confusing?

Perhaps they should be taken directly to the Pono Music World subforum.  Of course, the answer to their
question might be provided by an experienced JRiver user... but I think there needs to be a Pono
landing page for them with a sticky (or similar) giving them the lay of land, explaining that PMW
is built on the JRiver platform, etc.  Just a thought.

Running PMW 20.0.44

When trying to import my .wav library (from itunes media folder).  PMW will import the .wavs but leaves them unassigned it does not recognize artist or album information.

It correctly imports .aiff .mp3 etc etc with artist info etc only issue is with .wav

I assume this is an issue with how the .wav store metadata tagging info (if it stores it at all. Perhaps artist and album is parsed from parent folder structure? )

any assistance would be appreciated.

WAV files don't usually have tags.  MC can write them though.

Explore MC's tagging tool called "Fill properties from filename".  It can use the directory information to create tags.

When using search, the font color and background are such that I can't see what I'm typing.

When PMW20 is launched, it's window comes to the front but it is not 'active'.
So after launching you're still presented with the previously running
application's menubar.

So you see PMW20 main window but when you go to the menubar
you're sending commands to a different application.

Thanks that did it:

Just to clarify if anyone else runs into this.
1. Import wavs into Pono library
2. Select untagged Tracks
3. Under tools drop down /library tools/fill properties from filename  then select your option based on file structure I did Template: Directories

Thank you

As discussed here...

http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=93726.0

Delete from handheld any files not in sync list' doesn't appear to be working

Every sync just adds new files to the Pono, and doesn't remove songs that are not in the sync list any more.  Eventually the Pono fills up and says there is no room to sync.

I received Pono Player tonight.
And I downloaded Pono Music World 20.0.45 for Mac.
But Pono Music World do not recognize my Pono Player.
Off course I can not upgrade firmware.
I restart my Mac but nothing changed.
How can I use my Player?

This thread should be used for bug reports only.

For the recognition problem, please see this thread:
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=93189.0

When it connects, don't press "Done" on the player.

FYI, the latest Pono firmware update removes the "Done" button because it was confusing (which it obviously was).  So, just press the button after connecting to go into music transfer mode and then when you are finished, use the Pono software to eject and then disconnect the player.

Ripping CDs is somewhat erratic.

When connecting my CD Drive via USB, PMW20 identifies 3 corresponding logical devices
Compact Disc (/dev/rdisk2), Compact Disc (/dev/rdisk3), and Compact Disc (/dev/rdisk5).

Sometimes the CD will be identified so I can rip it.  Other times not.  When the Disc is not recognized
by PMW20, I find that it is mounted in Finder, so I can eject it there and try again.  PMW20 is
usually successful on the second attempt when this happens.

In all cases PMW20 struggles to read the drive.  Perhaps this is because it is fighting with iTunes?
I find that iTunes will inevitably launch and I have to exit 2 or 3 times.  I wonder if this can be improved?

In the Mac's System Preferences, the 'CDs & DVDs' item lets you specify which app, if any, opens when a CD is inserted. By default it's set to iTunes. You might try changing it to 'Ignore' or to open PMW.
