Q. About ripping setup
« on: December 04, 2014, 01:38:37 pm »

Hi all,

I used to use different programs for ripping CDs in mp3 and flac.
Recently, I decided to give MC a chance and ripped some CDs to mp3 with it. And I was and am quite happy with the handling and speed.
But, because I'm a little paranoid about my tags, I use another program (mp3tag) to clean and cooridnate my tags, including a picture. And here I ran into some small issues.

So here are my questions:
- where can I set up the tagging parameters? I'm not interested in the BPM of the Harry Potter ;)
- also, if I rip my first CD, the autostart-window asks me if I want to rip or play and so on. If I choose "rip" I still have the chance to correct the tags of artist, genre, title before ripping starts. But every next CD ist automatically starting with ripping right after the MC autostart-window.

Thanks in advance,

Thorsten

Oh, and another point: when converting sacds from iso to multichannel-flac, is it possible to change the sampling rate? Because now it is a 354kHz@24bit file.

Greetings

Let JRiver rip and import.
Then go to the directory where the newly ripped files are.
Open that folder in Mp3Tag.
Change the tags to how you want.
Then go back to JRiver Media Center and select those albums.  And right-click >> Library Tools >> Update Library (from tags)

That will update the library database in JRiver Media Center with the tag changes you made using Mp3Tag.

yes, the options are in library tools>convert format>options>apply DSP.  you can choose the sampling rate there (for SACD i go with 24/96, since it is supported by all of my DAC's)

as for tagging, if you are really serious about tags you'll use MC for tagging and ditch mp3tag.  it's a much better program...it took me a while to get used to it but now i can't imagine using something else

Hi,

thanks for your hints!
I am serious in tagging, I sorted all my 25.000+ songs one by one with mp3tag. It took my at least 100 hours.....
And I'm still tagging with mp3tag, also because I copy everything to a NAS so it's available for my Sonos system.

But JRiver adds a lot of tags that annoys me everytime I open and re-tag with mp3tag: BPM, Gain,.. see my attached picture.
Is it possible to switch them off?
