How can MJ update bitrate info?
« on: January 21, 2002, 04:24:37 am »

I've converted some mp3's from 160 or more back to 128 mbs bitrate, to save some diskspace.
Now MJ still shows the old bitrate in the Media Library overview; playing the song shows the correct bitrate in the player-screen.

How can I update the info in the Media Library?

you may need to remove the file from the library and reimport it.

I am not sure if the library update option will update this info.

Well, that's a problem here: I have some 9000 files in MJ of which 500 are converted and have to be updated.
Would be quite some work.

Another suggestion perhaps?

Mark,

Actually you can use library update as suggested by King. (I just tried)
In(File/Library/Update Library) you have to select Update new database field.
Provided that your 128k files have the same names as your old 160k files this
will work but be careful especialy if you have a lot of information in the
other fields (customs, etc..)
the safe way would be to try this on a copy of your database.
Create a new lib (File/Library/Library Manager) then Add (say test)
give some location and specify Clone from : your library.
It's always a good idea to test these sort of things on a copy of your lib.
If it works then fine, if it fails then will imagine something else.

Good luck

Just thinking, did you convert your files within MJ (Tools/Convert Format) ?
If so, you probably forgot to check the (Update MJ database) box in (Options/Converter Settings),
because that does the trick automatically !

Have a nice day

Ditto On What Cmagic Said

I have 75,000 mp3's, and if you do a update library, it will do all of the files for you (you don't need to do them manualy)
