IR Receiver
« on: February 03, 2015, 01:13:40 pm »

I have a Dell Inspiron 3847 Desktop PC connected thru HDMI to my TV and sound system, which I use as an Home Theater PC. I have a Harmony 650 IR remote to control all the components (TV, DVR, AV Receiver, Roku, etc). I need to add an IR receiver to the Dell to run the JRiver software on the Dell PC. What IR receiver do you recommend, and what drivers are required? Also, what device codes are required on the Harmony remote for the JRiver software?

Also, is there any way to wake a hibernating HTPC and launch the JRiver app, just using an IR remote? Will any driver do this?

Any IR receiver that is compatible with Microsoft Media Center will work - but JRiver also sells a Remote (with IR Receiver) http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Media_Center_Remote

I have two of these (neither bought from JRiver  :( ) that work fine. No software or drivers are needed. They are built into Windows.
On the harmony you would set the device your controlling as "Windows Media Center SE".
