Two versions of mc16 on same machine?

I just can't seem to work out how to run two versions of MC16 on the same machine. I tried to download another version but I can still only see one version on my desktop and it's already loaded from my existing file position. I want to have one version loaded from an external HDD and one from my NAS. Any advice appreciated?
