Hot key for polarity inversion
« on: March 01, 2015, 05:52:28 am »

Would it be possible to active the unused hot key

"Ctrl + I"

to invert polarity on all channels? This has been partially discussed here

http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=62697.0

The option

DSP Studio > Room Correction > Polarity

should be done for each speaker, and this setting may change on each album.

I think adding the hot key "Ctrl + I" would not be a major change in JRiver and make happy some of us :)

Thanks
Roberto

I personally have no objection.
But how many people, how often would want to change the polarity of their output?
You already can save a tag to auto change your polarity per track.

Well, it is said that JRiver is for the audiophiles, and some of them can hear polarity inversion :)
Very interested to know how to tell JRiver to change polarity with a tag: that would help, do you have a reference please?
Thanks

Too late, Ctrl + I is now taken :)

tag your track with a DSP setting that you have setup with polarity inversion. Simple.
If you can hear polarity inversion, well you must be superman!

Well, then I am Superman  :) And we are quite a few...
Seriously it is not that easy to hear unless speakers are time coherent. Not many speakers are today so I am not surprised many say they can not hear the difference.
I have polarity inversion assigned to a button on the remote for my amplifier. I use this a lot. A function like this in MC would be very welcome, but you need an easy way to determine what is correct polarity for an album/track. Then you can program Zone Switch to do the work.

Cool, I got that trick, thanks...

I actually do hear polarity for many albums, not a striking difference, but it makes a difference on the on-set transients and, on a less scale, on the soundstage. I have a quite treated room and a mastering pro rig.

It does seem like a candidate for DSP Presets, since this is the sort of thing that you would want to set once per track and never have to change again.

Good idea.

It also makes the feature unneeded since the preset system is already there!
