Divx and Xvid??
« on: October 07, 2003, 09:36:13 am »

Media Center 9.1 support the Divx movies, but me friend have encoded his movie to xvid format (like divx but open source). Will you add this format on media center soon?

Thanks

MC supports AVI.  You're confusing the container (AVI) with the codec (DivX).  Add the Divx codec to your OS and you'll be fine.

Like Scott said, MC supports AVI... but rather than install the DivX codec, you'll need to install the XviD codec.

Try here.

Well, .rm is another container.  Some of the common ones are:
AudioVideo Interleaved (*.AVI)
Ogg Multimedia Container (*.OGM)
Advanced Systems Format (*.ASF, *.WMV)
Quicktime's container (*.MOV)
Matroska (*.MKV)
Multimedia Container Formats (*.MFC)
MPEG-4's container (*.MP4)
Real Video's container (*.RM)

And MC supports most of these (.rm included).  Do you have the XVID codec installed?  To check, install and run AVICodec (http://avicodec.duby.info/).

Ho nuts, i have tested on full screen and my movie work. But it dont work if i let it on internal windows (on media center). It dont work too on the windored window. Just on full screen.

Is it possible in the futur to include the xvid codec in media center? and why not real player codec. So you will have not to install real player on your system. The reason why i like media center it play all formats, but you must install some others things like real player to play theses formats.

If you don't like RealPlayer, install RealPlayer Alternative (look for it here http://www.freecodecs.com/). Works well; lets MC play .rm files without a hitch.
