JRiver vs WMC

If JRiver can do everything windows media center does I'd purchase it.
I was wondering if I can play protected channels from an extender.
Can you even use an extender like WMC uses or do you need a computer running JRiver at each tv?
Also, you have to pay for guide data using JRiver right?
As you can see, I have no clue. :)
Thanks for any info you can provide.

I don't want to bother if I can't play protected content or use an extender. I assume jriver would work with hdhomerun primes but I need to know about the protected channels and extenders before I even bother.
