Add random play to smartlist?
« on: October 06, 2003, 07:34:43 am »

I have the following smartlist I've been using quite a bit:

Date (year): >2002 (Rating: >2)

As you can see, it's a very simple smartlist that plays only tracks in my collection dated as newer than 2002 and have a rating of 3 or more.

The only problem with this smartlist is that it plays back in the same order every time.  Is there a way to make MC randomize this Smartlist every time automatically?  I looked in the help files for smartlists and didn't see a randomize command.

Am I forced to re-sort the playlist every time?

~sort=[Random]

er.. add that to your smartlist.  Or use the rule wizard, "Modifier" > "Sorting" and type [Random] in the dialogue it gives you.

That mod will randomize the smartlist every time it is refreshed.

Or you can add a limit for a random selection of x tracks or x minutes or whatever. (play with the search wizard "Add Modfier" menu)

Excellent.

Thank you both...I knew there was a way to do it.
