OT: Play God with Newton's Aquarium
« on: October 06, 2003, 07:54:44 am »

If you like Physics and Celestial Mechanics, you've got to try this...

Newton's Aquarium

It's fun to set up hypothetical/doomsday scenarios with it. For instance, I placed a very heavy planet (1x1032 kg) outside the orbit of Jupiter, and sent it toward the inner planets. Watch in amazement as the solar system scrambles...ejecting all parties into oblivion (even the sun...which is no match for planet Xen). All aspects of any body are configurable (mass, velocity, tilt, angular velocity, appearance). You can even model your own surfaces by creating a 512x256x24bit jpg and placing the file in the appropriate dir under the textures subdirectory of Newton. The samples included are a good starting point for creating mayhem. Try it...it's cool!
