basic question about net radio / streaming
« on: March 23, 2015, 06:06:20 pm »

not really about streaming (i.e. spotify) as i don't use it currently

just configured a WDM loopback and got it working well, thanks to mwillems especially!

so in the process of testing my loopback i got curious about internet radio, which my better half has been asking about for some time.  for example, shoutcast (which is available as a default in MC20)

how do i go about picking a station, and saving it somehow, then being able to select the station to play through DLNA?

i tried saving as a playlist but as soon as i exited the web station the playlist disappeared (my bad probably)

i don't personally use radio or streaming, but if i could figure out how to get a few 80's stations as "playlists" to be able to play over the DLNA, the other half would be quite happy....

EDIT:  i figured out why the playlist wasn't "working"...it was my bad.  so i got a playlist going, but i can't get it over DLNA...i can see it but nothing happens if i select it.  is it possible to stream net radio over the server to DLNA?

EDIT 2:  figured it out.  A simple reset of the DLNA renderer and the new radio playlists showed up fine and play fine.  I'll just let this sit since I can't delete my thread ;)
