Problems with new version
« on: April 10, 2015, 07:00:42 pm »

Can someone help with sizing.

The new version 87 looked huge on our 1920 x1080 HTPC screen so I reverted back to the old version.

Then the 93 came and I updated, still the same problem everthing too big and squished.

I discovered that it was my windows screen settings as the fonts were set on large it makes jriver too big.

Setting this back to default small makes JRiver perfect but now the icons on my windows screen are too small to see from an armchair.

I cant be the only one with this problem! help please.

Yes, maid.  The sizing has been reconfigured a bit to work better with high DPI displays, but the options kstuart mentioned should be able to get you sorted.  If Theater View is also too big, it has its own size settings here:
Tools > Options > Theater View > Appearance > Size

20.0.84 and newer are forcing scaling on skins which don't support it.
Until this is fixed, or the sizing options are unlocked for those skins, you will have to either revert to an older version or use a skin which does support it. (the default Noire)

Cant understand why they are making everything so complicated.

We dont all understand scaling etc why is it not automatic.

In my opinion the other skins are not good no contrast etc.

If I go to Noire can you tell me what settings to change as I will have to put my windows on large font so that my old eyes can operate the machine from an armchair

Cant understand why they are making everything so complicated.

Because the current options didn't work right on the new fancy high-DPI displays (5k displays, retina screens, etc).

On Noire, you can both increase and decrease the size of Standard View to make it match and work with whatever Font setting you have selected in Windows.  I imagine someone could update Blue Steel to support the new stuff.  Maybe JRiver will do it if there is enough demand.

Blue Steel looks old-school to me. Takes me back.  ;)

Maybe JRiver will do it if there is enough demand.
If the rendering bugs are fixed, that comes "free".
There's no reason that it shouldn't look the same at 200% scale as it does at 100%, only bigger.
Though there are a lot of rendering issues to be worked out, which maybe were not so apparent when skins only rendered at one size and most people stuck to the default font.
And fixing a lot of the issues with the way that skins are rendered may break existing skins that are tweaked to work around those quirks.
