Sudden volume drop
« on: September 16, 2003, 09:47:41 pm »

Changing focus in windows and/or openning some web sites changes MC's volume output.
When this occurs the volume slider does not move or display a different volume % value.
The wave setting on my mixer has not changed either.  Yet there is an audiable difference of like 3-6db.

When I looked back over my posts and find I have had this situation ongoing so it is not something which began in recent builds.

Has this been noticed by others?

I have a similar problem. For my system there seems to be some conflict between MC's vol control and my SB extigy and it's unpredictable. Sometimes when I open the creative mixer to adjust line in or master volume(which is tied to MC's vol) the overall volume can jump 6db or more and the opposite can also happen. It's like MC and SB are trying to decide who's boss of the volume control.

I've learned to live with it. It can be annoying though when you have the volume low at night and go to make an adjustment and all of a sudden the volume level doubles! Jay.

After system changes outlined in http://www.musicex.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=MediaCenter;action=display;num=1062513656 the volume problem has not been resolved, however now it is a volume INCREASE   :o

dunno if it was something changed in the last build or my changing to ASIO, but this seems to have resolved itself.

Strange gets stranger,
watching TV, click on a web browser (IE6) to check the TV guide website and the volume goes SILENT   ?
Changing the channel restores the audio.
This has happened quite a few times this week.

Now that my lag problem appears to be under control, I am hoping to iron out the rest of the wrinkles in MC's performance on my machine.

This volume problem still exists, however:
1- it seems less pronounced than it had been,
2- except in TV viewing where it totally mutes the sound

?

I already reported this several buids ago, i think this only apens in systems powered by kx drivers. This appens with Mc because MC control's the main volume and not an "internal" volume control. Feel free to try the release 3535b of KX drivers to see if this correct the bug. Don't really know if this is a Driver's problem or an MC problem.

Even with the Kx Project driver update suggested by ChicoSelfs, the issue still exists.

It can even pop the MUTE off if you open a web page during the commercials.
