You need to manually enable the feature in Options > General > Features > WDM Driver.

WDM Install Fails

Lost JRiver WDM driver with this download. Went to Options-General-Features and the WDM driver was unchecked from the dowload. I rechecked it, rebooted Windows, but there still is no JRiver Driver option available in either Playback options or my Windows XP Sounds & Audio Devices.

I can still use Asio4all but audio quality was much better with the WMD driver. Is there a download link where the WDM driver be redownloaded?

Funny I've been using it without issue (til this recent download) since day 1?

The mistake was on my part. Normally when I do these downloads, I temporarily shut down my Avast Antivirus so it won't interfere and this is what I did. But when I went back to recheck the WDM check box, I didn't shut own Avast again and this blocked the Driver download.

I now have the Driver back and all is well in my unsupported XP world of JRiver audio player. :)

I believe Windows XP lacks WASAPI which the WDM driver requires.

I don't think this is correct.

To make your point more clear: XP lacks support for WASAPI, but I don't think the WDM driver requires it. (it should work with DirectSound)

Right.  That's what I meant.

Ah, my bad. I assumed the WDM driver required WASAPI.

I actually use an Empirial Off Ramp 3 USB converter with JRiver (Empirical 1.1 in Sound & Audio Devices) and prior to JRVAD, I was using Asio4all in Playback Options but now with the JDVAD option in my XP Sound & Audio Devices, I use Empirial 1.1 (Directsound) in Playback Options and the sound quality is superior to the prior Asio4all setup. Just my opinion and it keeps me supporting further JRiver builds even though I'm stuck wih Windows XP for the foreseeable future.

I'm just plugging along at a senior citizen pace cuz that's what I am.  8)

Cheer,
Robin
