Windows Media Center will not be part of Windows 10 (Problem or No Problem?)

 I am currently using JRiver with Windows 10 successfully so far. No major problems.  I came across this twitter feed  while going down a google search hole. Will this create any problems for this most excellent program.

We can confirm that due to decreased usage, Windows Media Center will not be part of Windows 10

Probably no impact. It could be a cluster of they don't include DVD Navigator, but I suspect they'll keep DVD support around so no biggie.

Along with the announcement  WMC was being discontinued, there was mentioned a "DVD option" due later this year (whatever that means).  ?

Since Windows 10 is 'free' they are probably trying to cut down on licensing costs.

They already did that on Windows 8.1 by moving WMC into a add-on, they could've continued that practice if they wanted to - but it seems like the userbase is not big enough anymore for MS to bother.

No wonder. The WMC is simply much worse than programs like JRiver Media Center oder Kodi. I've got WMC for Windows 8.1 (came free with the pro version if you ordered soon enough) and I have used it exactly one time only to realize that it's just a horrible piece of software. No loss if you ask me.

I imagine that is a MPEG-2 Decoder, which are license encumbered and often have had an associated extra cost, as opposed to the DVD Navigator.  Of course, they might bundle the two.

We'll see.

In regards to Win10 not including WMC, Microsoft's Gabe Aul said "If you have WMC now, we'll have a DVD option for you in an update later this year... The main scenario people used WMC for was to play DVD. We'll provide another option for DVD playback in the future."
