What I want to do is the opposite of The Usual:

The Usual is what RealVNC and similar programs do - you connect to Grandma's PC and so you can see exactly the same thing that she is seeing.

What I want to do is the opposite - connect to a PC - running Windows - and do various administrative tasks without it affecting what is displayed.

(The situation is a Home Theater PC showing a full screen video, and I want to be able to do stuff on the PC without affecting the full screen video.

IF these things were all inside of MediaCenter, then I could just run one of MC's remote apps, but they are not.)

It does not have to be "VNC" per se if there is another program that has virtual desktop capability in Windows.

Thanks !
