hello,

I would like to increase the volume of the voices in movies.

As I don't own a Dolby Digital/DTS decoder, the movies with ac3 audio need to be converted from 6 channels to 2 channels.
I tried adding +5db to the central channel in PEQ. But in the DSP process, the PEQ applies after the 6-channels to 2-channels conversion so I think it doesn't have any (audible) effect.

What is the best way to do what I want?

Are you using the JRSS mixer?  What are your output settings?

Yes I do use JRSS mixer.

You can see my TV Zone Output settings and its audio path in attached files.

I tried without JRSS mixer too but it doesn't change anything. I mean voices volume is unchanged even with +5db center channel.

Did you try moving center to front L/R checkbox?

You can try using the EQ to boost voice frequencies

You could try and find a mixing convolution filter

You can hardcode the audio using ffmpeg or eac3to

You can buy a Dolby decoder / AVR

Just a few options to try...

Thank you for your suggestions.
I realized there's no perfect solution to achieve this with my audio setup.

Buying an AVR receiver and central speaker is the expensive solution. Currently I need it for free ;-)

Did you try moving center to front L/R checkbox?

This checkbox is inactive when number of channel output is less or equal to 4. This sounds logical not being an option because it is part of the process when converting 6 to 2 channels.

Finally the good compromise is a new zone for video night playback in which I enabled the "Night mode" filter in "Adaptative volume".
It solves the voices volume problem for night playback. In the day I can up the volume.

I was just about to suggest that.  MCs Night mode works quite well.

Yes I agree. And no matter the number of channels of the source, it will do the job.
