I hope it won't die! But we do have to remember to remain reasonable in what we ask, and that it's not our company! :)
That said, there have been some changes suggested that might be more doable than full 3D support.
I have two clients who are quite disappointed so far with the state (and expense) of 3D playback on the PC, and that MC doesn't do it. I, personally, am not that disappointed with MC for not supporting 3D since we know (kind of) what's involved; I would, however, be overjoyed if this got some love based on some of the suggestions.

Thanks for your input and clarifications. My concern about the lack of 3D feature is taking a away the joy of using MC, and I am convinced some would be customers are been turned off.
I know there is a partial solution to this internal ability of MC to play 3D.
