JRiver can't play Elf
« on: December 08, 2015, 11:31:42 pm »

I have an infini film version of Elf on dvd. Neither JRiver nor powerdvd recognize the disc or the files on it. My dvd player plays it just fine. Has anyone had a similar problem with infini film discs?

From the Wiki:

MC supports DVD playback on Windows Systems (that can playback DVDs with Windows Media Player) and a DVD Drive set the the same Region as the DVD Disk to be played.

To playback DVDs from other regions, you will need either a 3rd-party DVD decrypter or change the region of your drive. AnyDVD HD is a good option.

I have a VERY small number of DVD discs that my computer won't work with.  They spin up, but very little can be copied from them.  They have some advanced copy protection on them.  On the back of the DVD case is a small icon with a red slash through a circle.  That's the key.  Some of these disks will read on SOME computer drives.  Some won't.  It's hit and miss.  I now look for this logo when buying used DVDs and don't buy any that have it.  I'm not sure if this is the same as your issue, but it's definitely been a problem on my system with this tiny number of disks.
