PSAudio bridge not coordinating with MC

MC 20.0.131, windows 7. "Playing now" is PSAudio Bridge (Direct Stream).  The DAC shows the time progression of the piece correctly.  MC gets as far as 5 seconds, then goes back to 0. No sound.

When played through "player"  (external USB amp and desktop speakers) it works.  MC also recognizes the PSAudio inconsistently.

What's the problem and how do I fix it?

This happens to me occasionally as well.  Most of the time, re-selecting the song fixes the problem (JRemote).  When that doesn't work, go to the bridge's IP (type into your browser) and reset the UPnP server.  This always works for me.
