Crazy request when trying to load remote library
« on: August 11, 2015, 06:14:01 pm »

I get this message when trying to load a remote library.  "Please enter the credentials for 10.0.0.4:52199"  Huh?  I just updated the client machine to Windows 10 but the host is still win 8.1.

10.0.0.4 is the IP Address of your server. 52199 is the Port number Media Center uses for the MCWS web API it uses to connect to a media network server.

It is asking for the Username and Password you set in the copy of Media Center set up as the server under Tools > Options > Media Network > Authentication.

The number isn't a version number. That's just the IP Address you have assigned to your server. 10.x.x.x addresses are common private IP addresses used on LANs behind a NAT router.

Thank you.  That was it.  Funny I don't remember ever doing this before.
