Here's the general information on upgrading to MC23. It's a pre-order. MC23 will be available in the summer, but the price now is the best price of the year, and the license also works with MC22.

Please post any Mac specific questions here.

!! Great to see MC23 is on the horizon !!
Is there a road map as to what we can expect for MC23?
Its the only highway for your audio and video needs!

Been using Mac 21 Masters License for awhile. Any audio-centric/audio interface-centric/audio sound quality-centric upgrades from 21 to 23? Trying to ascertain if worth purchasing Mac 23 Masters License. Thanks ;-)
-
what's new in 23 version? Is it compatible with 10.9.5 ?
-
I would also like to know what is going to be added or improved.
-
You win... upgraded from MC21 Mac to MC23 Master. Might install it on my work machine which is Windows as well as on my home Mac. The only fix I am hoping for in 23 is finally fixing the ability of MC to grab the mac keyboard media keys properly on launch without me having to click on the MC window a few times and hitting the media keys before it eventually finally steals control from iTunes.
-
I bought the upgrade and received the license file. Is there any information available how to install it?
-
Since MC23 isn't released yet, make sure you have the latest MC22 build installed (e.g. Media Center 22 app dragged into the Applications directory). Run Media Center 22 at least once, then close it. Then you can open the license file and it *should* register MC22.
-
To be honest this is the first MC upgrade I have done where it 'just worked'. Impressed.

Yes. A Master License will work. Yes, it is compatible.

I just purchased Ver 22 only 6 weeks ago. Will I still have to pay for the new version?

Any chance of including sort order of names by last names first?

Any chance of including sort order of names by last names first?
I was going to tell you how easy this is to do with an MC expression based field. Then I tried it. It's really easy. But it gives you the wrong results in many cases. Because this is harder than I thought, and maybe harder than you thought.
The simple expression that sorts by last name works great for John Coltrane. Sorts in the Cs. ...and for Paul Simon; sorts in the Ss. But what about Oingo Boingo? Sorts in the Bs, which is wrong. Name any two word band name and it will sort wrong. Pink Floyd doesn't belong in the Fs. It should sort in the Ps.
So how is MC to know which names are person names, and which ones are band names, which don't need to be sorted by last word? It requires user intervention to make those decisions. You could build a check box field to make this easy for the end user. Check this box to make it sort by swapped artist name. I could whip up an expression in a few minutes to do it. But it requires work for the end user.
Just some thoughts.
Brian.

In an ideal world John Coltrane would be entered as Coltrane, John and Pink Floyd would be entered as Pink Floyd. If you have any classical music in your collection this will drive you nuts. Every time I rip a CD or buy a download I have to edit all the composer and artist names.

Thanks for this, Brian. I will look into it.

If you read the Upgrade Help topic linked in the first post, May 7th is the deadline.

Hello,
I purchased the upgrade, downloaded it, and now I keep getting a message box with "Your license file is for a different product".
What's up?

Make sure you're using the latest MC 22.0.93 build.

I tried it again and it still doesn't work.
I have JRiver Media Center 22.22.0.93 Master license

Why do you think it isn't working? If you had a registered copy of MC22, MC22 will use that license.

Like I said above, it shows a message box that states "Your license file is for a different product"
I have a license for 12,16,17,19,21,22 and If I try and upgrade it faults the above.
I think I've been a good customer, what's the problem?
This is what's in my applications folder
Media Center 22.app
Media Center 23.app
Media Center 24.app

When you have more than one version of MC for Mac installed, it seems to mistakenly send the licensing files to the earliest version. I've seen this a few times on my systems.
The cure is really simple. Instead of trying to use the MJR file that gets downloaded, instead, cut and paste your license code into the licensing box. You can find that box under the Help menu.
That's worked for me every single time. Good luck!
Brian.

Hi, I already tried that.

I suspect that you do not have MC 22.0.93 for Mac installed. Or you are accidentally using a different version. Or you bought a Windows license (unlikely).
Have you installed 22.0.93 from the post at the top of this forum? Help > About Media Center will tell you your exact version.
Brian.

If you have MC22 licensed already, you can just wait until MC23 is released. There is no need to do anything now.

I paid for it already, do I still get the discount when MC23 is released?

You have an MC23 license. You don't need to buy anything else.

I'm really confused.....last night I bought media Center 23 from JRiver. This was an upgrade from Media 22. The price was 19.98. I thought I loaded it with my registration code....and I get no sign that I have media center 23 on my MAC. I have done this over and over ....I'm not the most computer literate person so I am lost. But if this is going to be this complicated I'm going to have to find a simpler product. Is there any human tech support I can talk too?

I keep getting the message that my license is for a different product.

Make sure you're using the latest MC 22.0.108 build.

Where is MC23? (https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,110659.0.html)
-
Jim H....please explain. You asked "where is MC 23. I wish I knew....because I can't find it.
-
Jim posted a link - Where is MC23? (https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,110659.0.html) is actually a link which will tell you where it is (spoiler: it's not out yet and won't be until later in the Summer). But the MC23 license will work in MC22 if you're using the latest version.
-
When is the upgrade coming out?? will there be explicit instructions to down load it??
-
We will post one in a new thread here in the next two weeks.
