Title: connection lost between AVR and Television while playing movie
Post by: AddyV on August 11, 2019, 06:14:29 am
the problem occurred since I have replaced my old video card (ASUS EAH5450) to Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050.
I replace the card to be able to play 4K movies but now even some full HD's are giving this problem in MC25 as MC24. never had this problem before)
when playing the same movie with VLC player, everything runs smoothly without any problem.
the problem when :
the PC continues to play the movie but the TV screen turns black for a few seconds. when this interruption takes longer, the TV indicates that there is no signal on the HDMI port. After a while screen comes back but since the PC continued to play we've missed a part of the movie.
the same interruptions sometimes occur while scrolling through the movies in MC Theater view (nothing is playing).
configuration:
- PC (old PC from 2011) with 8GB DD3, i5-2300, GTX 1050, SSD for all software.
- this PC is only used to run MC for music, images and movies, no other software on it except for Bitdefender, Chrome and recently VLC player.
- Windows 10 version 1903.
- no data on harddisk
- all data including MC-library on a NAS Synology Play216
- TV Samsung 8Series 4K 65"
- AVR Onkyo TX-RZ820
- MC25 video settings
  - Red October HQ
  - Red October standard
  - Red October HQ
  - Hardware accelerate video decoding when possible
  - Optimize hardware decoding for performance
- the movie played last evening was only 7000-12000kbps

can you please advice
thanks

How long are your HDMI cables? Try to keep them less than 10ft.
How old are your HDMI cables?
Are all your cables Premium Certified HDMI cables? Not just "high speed" or "4k"... actually Premium Certified?

from PC to AVR a "Monster advanced Cable Ultra High Speed" only 3 ft long.
from AVR main out to the Samsung One Connect is a Profigold high speed with ethernet, 6.6ft long.

cables were not replaced. it's not a 4K problem. Last movie was even 1920 x 800.

Ultra high speed is not the same as Premium Certified, which you can get for a very good price compared to monster. It's worth a try, this is a very very common thing with cables that are not Premium Certified.

EDIT: Remember that if you are setting your PC/MC to always output 4k...  then even when you are browsing around in MC or playing a 1920x1080 movie, the picture out of the PC to the AVR and to the Tv is always 4k.
