Hi!
I hope you are still interrested improving subtitle syncing? I really like to see bigger scale than -1000 to +1000... I have also some difficulties with fast disappearing subs when watching PAL-Speeddown movies (25fps->23.98fps)... One other thing would be shadowing and color changing. Also some other tweaks related to subs quality (opaque, transparency, smoothing...) would be welcome...

*bumb*
Atleast color options would be nice and easy to add...
-
Could you explain why you want a text-based subtitle color other than white? Is there a readability need, or is it just a personal preference thing?
Do you want it per-file thing or as a global setting?
How about if this thread gets to +10 on votes, we'll do it?

Hence JRiver doesn´t have shadowing, the white subtitles are sometimes too hard to see, especially in quick conversations with white background... I personally prefer light yellow subtitle color, it doesn´t jump on your eyes and it can be readable almost every situation. I would like to implement it to the text-based subtitles font option, so it would show font, size and color... I really like how mpc-hc does subtitles, maybe you can take some ideas from there?

Text subtitles have a black border around white text. This makes the titles easy to read, even on a white background.
Are you seeing something different?

Yeah, they have that border, but it is too thin to compensate the "wrong" color... I am sorry if I´m asking too much, but I really need excellent subtitle-support, because I use subs with every film I watch. So, these request could sound non-necessary to you, but I would really like to max my movie experience with non-annoying subtitles...

I'm for the idea of being able to change the color of the subtitles, as some people(not me personally) prefer yellow subtitles, especially in black and white movies.
-
I'll add a +1, but mostly for the bigger scale, -1000 to +1000 is not enough
-
I also use subtitles for every movie..
I vote +10 for a longer scale on subtitle synch time.
Also, I would love MediaCenter to remember the synching of each subtitle.. (but I imagine this might be very complicated!), or to allow us to save the subtitle file with the new synch time.
I personally don't need colors, am ok with the white one.

It does remember the timing, placement, etc. per file. Make sure you import videos and keep them in your library.
-
What is the most timing shift you would ever need?
At what granularity do you want to set the timing shift?
Thanks.
-
I guess doubling the timing shift and keeping the same scale would probably fit most situations
-
I like mpc's +/-500ms steps using F1 or F2. for subtitles it seems to be accurate enough.
That said I mostly just fix the subtitle issue with mkvmerge etc. so changing font colour would be higher on my priority list.

Well, if there were buttons or key-combinations the scale would be infinite, and the steps would be 500ms... Like mpc-hc and potplayer :)

Next build:
NEW: Subtitle timing can be adjusted from the OSD when subtitles are on (use up/down/left/right while playing).
-
that is great news matt now i can finally get rid of my keyboard for my htpc !!!
-
Great change!!! Thanks a lot!!!

Sorry for bumping an old topic, but I need to make a desperate +1 on improving the subtitle visibility. I absolutely cannot see the text in some situations, the thin black border is just too thin to make the text stand out.

I'd repost under version 21 ... they won't be making any improvements to v17, and your bump could be missed
