Title: Worked fine.... then get "Play Back Problem"
Post by: frankinbend on September 05, 2015, 02:14:20 pm
I had 19, then upgraded to 20.   Have prepurchased 21.

Every thing worked great until a couple weeks ago. Then I only could access an occasional album. And, then when one would get playing it would stop and I got the common message:

"Play Back Problem
Something went wrong with playback.
Details:
The file could no be found. Check the filename in the library in matches filename on disk."

There is no rhyme or reason to which albums will play or not play. Tried some of the fixes outlined but, does not seem to solve problem.

What do I  do?

If you have a license for MC21, please download and install it.

Antivirus programs can cause odd problems like this.

;)   You were right. Removed anit-virus program and runs great!

Have most of the bugs been worked out of 21?

Thanks!

McAfee .....

You may be able to set McAfee up to behave nicely with Media Center. We don't have instructions specifically for McAfee, but if you read through the other examples here, you can possibly figure it out. Most anti-virus applications have ways to set exclusions for both disk locations and running processes.

On the other hand, I don't like McAfee's business practices, so I wouldn't necessarily recommend sticking with them. But that's your call.

MC21 is perfectly safe. It is still under active development, so new versions will come out much more rapidly (and things could change and break while they're working on it). But, I'm running it in production now on all of my systems.

Read this article by Jim for more information on how JRiver does development:
