Title: Aggregate Audio Device Playback Failure
Post by: KnightFallen on November 13, 2014, 12:20:04 pm
I tried playing back 5.1 multichannel audio via a 4.0 channels aggregate audio device made of the HDMI and headphone jack outputs on my Mac Mini.  MC20 playback failed with an error that CoreAudio was not working.  I had set the bit depth for both devices to 24-bits and the frequency to 48 kHz.  Playback of the content on 2.0 channels on each audio device worked.  VLC was able to play back the multichannel audio, although I do not know whether it downmixed the content to 4.0 or just played the Lf, Rf, Ls, and Rs channels.

Why is aggregate audio device CoreAudio playback on MC20 failing on my computer?
