Not alot of MC users seem to use Audioscrobbler...I was looking at the stats and it seems only 282 people use it and only 65 people are in the MC group http://www.audioscrobbler.com/group/JRiver%2BMedia%2BCenter :(
Audioscrobbler is a computer system that builds up a detailed profile of your musical taste. After installing an Audioscrobbler Plugin, your computer sends the name of every song you play to the Audioscrobbler Server. With this information, the Audioscrobbler server builds you a 'Musical Profile'. Statistics from your Musical Profile are shown on your Audioscrobbler User Page, available for everyone to view.
There are lots of people using Audioscrobbler, but you probably won't be interested in most of them. The Audioscrobbler Server calculates which people are most similar to you, based on shared musical taste, so you can take a look at what your peers are listening to.
With this information, Audioscrobbler is able to automatically generate suggestions for new songs/artists you might like. These suggestions are based on the same principles as Amazon's "People who bought this also bought X,Y,Z", but because the Audioscrobbler data is what people are actually listening to, the suggestions tend to make more sense than Amazon.
It's not just pure statistics and recommendations, there are active forums, groups, weekly charts... The system is being worked on full time, and we plan to roll out many more exciting features.

You can get a MC plugin at: http://www.audioscrobbler.com/download.php?downloadid=16
You can also use Audiosrobbler to make signatures like the one i have at that the end of my post. Info on how to do that is at: http://www.denness.net/sigs.htm
Audioscrobbler also owns Last.FM...
Last.fm is a personalised online radio station that plays the right music to the right people. Songs spread from listener to listener.
You get your own online radio station that you can fill up with the music you like. This information is used to find users who are similar to you. With this information Last.fm can play you new artists and songs you might like.
Website is at: http://www.last.fm/
Audioscrobbler is also planning on using MusicBrainz to help them ID songs better...
MusicBrainz is a community music metadatabase that attempts to create a comprehensive music information site. You can use the MusicBrainz data either by browsing this web site, or you can access the data from a client program — for example, a CD player program can use MusicBrainz to identify CDs and provide information about the CD, about the artist or about related information. You can also use the MusicBrainz Tagger to automatically identify and clean up the metadata tags in your MP3 collections.

Please be aware that the Audioscrobbler plug-in can cause Media Center to crash if you aren't logged in.

I am a big fan of Audioscrobbler and use the MC plug-in daily. I'd like to see more MC users jump on board and support it. (BTW, I've never had it crash my MC)
221bbs,
Thanks for the link to the signature maker. Are you the host for it? If so, is there anyway to make the entire image "hot" -so that when a person clicks on it they are directed to that person's Audioscrobbler page?
-
Naw I'm not the host but here is how to do it...
[*url=http://website link][*img]http://image link[/img*][/url*]
Example:
[*url=http://www.last.fm/user/221bbs/][*img]http://www.denness.net/rpi/username/221bbs[/img*][/url*]
just remove the *

ahh...that seems so obvious now that I see your example. Thanks!
Do you know how long Audioscrobbler keeps tracks in your "Recently Played Tracks"? I was playing with it tonight and noticed that if I didn't play anything for a couple hours it went totally blank...rendering the signature as a big empty eyesore.
I checked the Audioscrobbler site but it doesn't appear to be adjustable. That is, it doesn't look like the user can define the length of time tracks will remain on the Recently Played list.

I have No Idea...maybe a hour or 2

hehe...seem to have almost 300 ppl using the AS plugin...for some reason they got rid of the plugin chart a few days ago :(
also got 69 ppl in the MC group...I don't think the MC group is working...the stats seems wrong and also doesn't look like the creator of the group is active :(
