Everytime I tell the player to play something, as in one of my own media files ... it doesn't. (As in without importing, just going to File-> Open Media File, or double
clicking a file from Explorer).

The search facility for FYE seems incredibly slow compared to ITunes,
as does all the web stuff.  (Maybe because I'm in the UK).

Over all the player looks and feels dated already, a cut and shunt version
of MC11, doesn't look as nice as ITunes.  The skin is also really quite harsh
on the eyes.  To much white.

The prices for a couple of albums i've just put in came up
higher than ITunes, and when I try to buy a song, it doesn't
make it obvious how to buy a song it's disabled.  As a more litterate computer
user I'd guess that it's because I've not signed up and logged in.
ITunes comparitively offers me a great big "Buy Song" button..
Nor can I preview music without signing in it would seem.
There is a Buy Album button, but nothing happens when I press it.

While I appreciate a lot of work has probably gone into this,
why would someone use it over ITunes?

It also fails in the cool factor that ITunes has.  No flippy album display
thing, which many of the young people that use these services drool over.
MC11 theater view, I can't imagine why anyone would want to use that.
People are buying Vista machines that come with a full 3D animated
Media Center system almost as standard, or Apple machines with front row which is
undeniably pretty.

As a side note Jim, could you not come to some
agreement where these services are optionally visible in MC12?
For us MC people there's no desire at all to use one of these stripped
down players.

Edit: the help file needs updating with the newer skin as well.
Edit2: The icons in options show the MC logo.
Edit3: The quick launch icon is so small as to be almost unrecognizable.

We'd like to do that.

Subscription.  Doesn't work, of course, if you have an ipod.

I think Many Of The Players Are Over Priced.

Once A Blank CD Was About $100

3 Weeks Ago I Bought A 512 Memory Chip For $7

It Seems The Players Are Stuck At $300+ For Some Reason.

I Did Look At The F.y.e Site I Did Not think It Was All That Worse Or Better Than The Others.

I Am Happy Paying Yahoo .79 Cents Per Track Even If There Player Really Sucks.

I Wish Yahoo Would Allow JRiver To Build Them A Player That Actually Works, And Is Worth The Money. Maybe they could have saved some money and not have bought The music match program. That is no better than winamp (i just hate it) or real player.

There are some pretty inexpensive portable players now.  For example:

"The Sansa Clip will be available in 1GB and 2GB capacities and sell for $40 and $60 respectively."

My Car Is 12 years old, And The Lighter That Has Been Broken For 12 Years Was Just Fixed (I Don't Smoke Or I Would Have Fixed It Sooner).

I was able to pick up a Sansa 8 MB player for cheap.  Together with a 2 MB micro SD I got away with a 10 MB flash player for $130.00
