Title: limetree-DAC MC31 Win10 playback-problem-direct sound
Post by: audioviel on January 26, 2024, 09:55:21 am
I would like to control my new DAC as an exclusive, direct device from MC31 as a converter.

With MC31 and my new LINDEMANN Limetree DAC (DSD, 24 bit, sample rates: PCM up to 768 kHz, DSD up to DSD512) connected with USB, I cannot send high-resolution files to the DAC. I'm not a nerd or an IT expert, just a simple music listener.
My DAC shows what resolution it is receiving as input with an LED and changing colors.
With the trial version of Audirvana and kernel streaming works (see screenshots) - but I don't like Audirvana, I want to play music with MC because I've been buying MC licenses for years.

When I connect the DAC and operate MC with standard settings (DAC as standard device) I only hear all music files in 16bit/44.1
I have tried:
  - in WIN10 - sound settings of the DAC to max. 24bit/384 -> playback error for files with a different resolution (see screenshots) - the DAC is only in the highest resolution mode and I can't tell from the LED what resolution it is just converted.
- DSP set in MC31 (see screenshots) ->no
- DAC set as direct sound device in MC31 ->no

I have dual boot on my music PC, it works without any problems under Ubuntu (see screenshots)
I would also like to have the MC32 version I bought as a music player to work under Win!0.
Second problem under Linux in MC31 is, the disk location doesn't work and I can't find any music files via my folder structure

-> what else can I try in WIN10?
what am I doing wrong?

If you want exclusive, use WASAPI Exclusive or ASIO, not DirectSound. Set it in MC's Options > Audio > Audio Device section.
