Title: Upgrade Problems and Questions
Post by: JimH on July 20, 2013, 08:45:36 am
MC19 will be available in an early version soon.

You can purchase a pre-release license here:
http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Upgrade_to_MC19

You will receive an MC19 license that also works with MC18.

If you have questions, please post them in this thread.

Not EZ giving my money to JRiver ;)

In my case I would upgrade from 18 to 19 if I could get my registration code to be recognized. One forum member suggested cut and pasting ones registration code. All to the good if I had my code archived in an old email from JRiver, etc., but when I got my registration code for 18 I wrote it down and saved in my Rolodex with caps, dashes and 1's for 1's, I's for I's, O's for O's and 0's for 0's exactly as in the email I received. Thus I cannot cut and paste my code into appropriate place on upgrade page. My thought best of all being able to upgrade straight from JRiver 18 user interface, but perhaps that's to easy to consider? Love JRiver 18 but dislike JRiver update protocol.

The instructions tell you how to recover your license.

I looked at recovering a code, but shouldn't have to wade through that as I wrote down my code EXACTLY as it appeared. Surely JRiver would like to lower the frustration level of those purchasing their upgrades?

Tried recovering my code and still no go. Can a living breathing mammal at JRiver email my code if I provide my appropriate email, name and address I originally used? I did move (twenty-five miles from my previous address) since purchasing JRiver 18, so perhaps JRiver needs all my old registration information. Not sure which email address I used, but it's likely one of two. Let me know.

I get emails from JRiver at one of my email addresses. When I tried to have the registration code sent to that email address, it said that JRiver does not have any registration codes for that email address. I checked my other email accounts and could not find any emails from JRiver sent to those.

Now what do I do? The option#2 will not work for me since I don't know where you sent the original email with my registration code. Why the heck you do not have the registration code under registration info in the program itself is beyond me. That would make it incredibly easy!

I really want to upgrade but you DO need to make the process easier. And the link you provided earlier is not very helpful. I had to search for Restore Option #2 in your wiki to find it. I assume this is it:

https://rover.jriver.com/cgi-bin/restore.cgi

At a loss as to what to do now. Please help - thanks!

Because anyone who has access to your PC would have access to the license.  We used to do it that way.  It didn't work out.

Email me your details and I'll try to find your license.  Let me know what e-mail you want to use.

When MC19 is available in a few weeks, install it and enter your code.

You can do the same with MC18 now if you're not running it already.

Thanks for the upgrade.

Jim,

Is it also possible to install MC19 beside the previous versions, or do you have to upgrade?
I,ve bought the upgrade key but would like to start from scratch though.

Kind regards.

Since MC17.1, major builds can be installed and used at the same time.  The libraries aren't compatible.  It's best to switch to the newer build as soon as you're satisfied it works for you.

Hey, Jim, I just purchased the upgrade & my current version still says that I am Media 12.  Shouldn't it have changed to Media 18?

Thank you for your time!

I just prepurchased MC19 using the activation sent to me by jriver, and I was charged the full price.  What gives?

Same thing happened to me.  Although I entered my old registration code I was charged full price.

Get a message that license has been installed, but JRiver show no evidence of this.  Version still shows as 18.0.206?

I goofed up.  When purchasing the pre-order upgrade to MC19, I used a code that is linked to another software (digital editing) package and I paid full price.

I noted my mistake and ordered again at your bargain price.  Is there anyway that I might receive a refund for my "first purchase"?

Hi

Upgraded to MC19 last week.

Had my credit card statement through today and you have charged me twice, I like the software but don't really want to pay double.

Is there some other way to contact you so I can send my details to get this sorted.

Thanks.

Please write deanna at jriver.

That can happen any time you back through a purchase page.

Thanks. But I didn't back through anything. Or click twice etc. I also have the Mastercard verification thing switched on so have to enter another password every time I am charged. The issue is at your end. Surely there should be some failsafe even if someone does click back on their browser?!

just been through my history, the first is obviously my purchase the second time was slightly after the licence was activated on my laptop- in my internet history I have the welcome screen after JRiver automatically opens the browser to say the licence has been installed - no backing through a purchase page - this is something on your end - best guess; the software has somehow activated a second purchase when activating the licence

anyway since you have found purchases can I assume this is being taken care of?

I was billed twice due to a browser refresh on the purchase page.  I am not sure how to contact anyone to have the charge reversed.  The most that I was able to find was text saying to email music at jriver.  Does that mean music at jriver?  Please contact me and let me know if the email has been received or how to get the duplicate charge handled.  Thanks!

Hi,
Receiving the notice that a discounted update is available at 19$, I've used the shortcut provided by your mail, inserted my MC18 code, just to see, later on, that on my credit card the amount of 39$ was deducted...
Not a very good start...
Now I hope that the code for which I've paid the entire amount will work when MC19 will be available.
I receive no reply on my query concerning the above,
Vlad

MJ14 isn't eligible.  It was a free product.

MJ8 is.

Ok Accepted but the wording is "from Media Jukebox 8" which would suggest version 8 and above. I don't want something for nothing but I have wasted a lot of time trying to get what I thought was a genuine bargin.

What do I do with the code I received by email for 19?

So I have to pay full price even if I have Media Jukebox 12 and the sales literature says "You can upgrade for $22.98 from any version all the way back to Media Center 10, or from Media Jukebox 8."

Please confirm   :(

Media Jukebox 12 was free, so it would not be an upgrade.  Otherwise, everyone on the planet would get a free update ("Hey, I have MJ12! - Discount please.").

MJ8 was a paid product.

That's just my understanding.

I had trial version for MC18 and paid, registered version for MC17.
Bought the upgrade to MC19 and ran the licence key on my laptops with MC18. No problem.
But on my Win 8 machine I can not upgrade MC18 from trial version to registered version. I had had the trial version for two weeks on Win 8 machine before I bought upgrade. Tried to reinstall MC18 but still the same problem.

Hi

I have no problem with the licence itself; it insatalled without problem on two laptops without previous trial version MC18. The problem is with the computer with the trial version of MC18 (and Win 8 if that means anything?). No matter what I do I get error message during registration on that machine. Do I have to uninstall trial MC18 and also do something in the registry to be able to do an absolutely clean/new install?
Thanks for your help.

No.  You don't need to uninstall the trial.  Maybe it's already licensed.  Please describe exactly what happens.

MC19 will be available in an early version soon.

You can purchase a pre-release license here:
http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Upgrade_to_MC19

If you have questions, please post them in this thread.
I am a owner since JR 15 (now 17 version). Last night I did the pre-order for JR 19 but the system show me an error message when I tried to upgrade my current JR 17 to 18 (since 19 is still unavailable) and after paying, receive the code, etc.
Then I downloaded the trial version of 18 (since I learnt that I could upgrade from 17 to 18 until the availability of 19 version) and when I tried to restore the licence in the system (introducing my new code) again show an error message, in that case error of conexion with the server, but I do not have any problem to download JR 18 so I understand something else is happening.
I am doing everything properly but I always receive the same error message (error contacting with the server).
Could you let me know how I can proceed to upgrade to 18 (with my current 19 licence) until the availability of 19?.
THX.
Regards,
Elias.

JRiver Media Center 19.0 is available in a thread at the top of this board.

The first few builds will resemble MC18 closely.  We've added some features already, but more will come over the next 150 builds or so.  If you have an MC19 license, you'll just need to download MC19.  You'll find it in a thread near the top of this board, when it's out, but read the thread carefully.  Early builds will have rough edges.

Instructions for restoring a license are on our wiki (http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Restoring_a_License).  You can email yourself your license(s) by visiting that page.  You can see the status of your license in MC under Help/Registration Info.

If you need help, please use new the thread called "Problems and Questions (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=82730.0)".
