Title: Cloudplay Questions and Answers IV
Post by: JimH on April 09, 2022, 09:43:14 am
I'm starting a new thread for questions or comments.  Cloudplay is JRiver's Lossless Streaming and Radio service.  It's listener supported.

The previous thread is here (https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,122954.0.html).

Please post any questions or comments about CloudPlay in this thread.

For more about Cloudplay, please see:

CloudPlay Instructions and Description (https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,122743.msg849885.html#msg849885)

or the Cloudplay wiki topic (https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Cloudplay).

Found a playlist with M4A files.  Isn't that considered "Lossy"?

It's called "Marantz Hi-End Audiophile Test Demo"  by Sismik11

I thought it wasn't possible to upload "Lossy" content?

Carl

ALAC is a lossless codec too.

M4A is a container, it can be AAC which is lossy or ALAC which is lossless like Matt said.

Yeah.  I just found that out.

Kind of annoying though. How would you tell if it is ALAC or AAC without using something like Media Info to look it up each time?

File size should give you a clue. You can drag all of your m4a files into the free software mp3tag and it will tell you if they are AAC or ALAC. I keep mine in separate directories so I only need to check once.

Is there any good reason not to convert MP4 files that I may have that I have verified as Lossless to FLAC?  Most of my library is FLAC and everything I rip is FLAC.  But I seem to have acquired a few MP4 albums.

Is there any limitation on the number of songs in single playlist to upload to cloudplay? I have uploaded a playlist containing around 900 songs, it was successfully uploaded, but it is not showing in my login. Please help.

I don't know what the limit is, but I know there is one.  What's your user name on CP?

Try editing the playlist to remove half the tracks and upload again.  Only the playlist will be uploaded if you've previously uploaded the files.

The limit is 100 per playlist ordinarily.
