Title: Rainmeter Skin...?
Post by: brossmac on March 08, 2010, 11:38:06 pm
Has anybody given though (or effort) toward putting together a JRiver component for the excellent Rainmeter/Enigma desktop?

http://rainmeter.net/RainCMS/

There are skins to display info from (and control) iTunes, Winamp, foobar and more.  I would kill for something that would work with MC.

I'm not really much of a programmer, but if nobody else is interested I may dive in and try to learn it....

Any chance for a nice preview, sneak peak or anything? I'm a long time user of rain meter and up until now i was using a heavily modified minilyrics theme, to achieve a cdart/rainmeter look on my desktop :P

As of now it has
Name, artist, album, PN position, elapsed time/total, vol %, vol bar, vol + (5%), vol - (5%), play/pause, prev, and next.

Seems awesome! I would love to see a more minimalistic version too! Maybe something like that ? http://minhtrimatrix.deviantart.com/art/MoonGlow-173381438?q=boost%3Apopular%20in%3Acustomization%2Fskins%2Fsysmonitor%2Frainmeter%20player&qo=0 (check bottom-left) But appart from that, it's awesome! When can we expect a release date?:)

Will release it in the next day or so I have run into a few glitches if media center isn't open and I am just connecting to media server.
I have a minimalist version too, the one I posted is designed for my 7" usb monitor that I use for rainmeter and gadgets.

I will have to check this program out since Windows Gadgets have become frustrating since they removed the "sidebar" functionality in Windows 7.

IMHO it is far better than sidebar gadgets.
I used to use all kinds of gadgets and now only have 2
1 for weather and 1 for mouse tracking. I use the mouse tracker
because I sometimes loose my cursor due to having 4 monitors
one of which is in another room.

OK i'm in love with that version :D I think Rainmeter supports "states" so you can have it hidden while media center/media server isn't running.

I suck as a programmer but for example there are utorrent skins for rainmeter that hide or collapse when utorrent is not running..er you get my point :P

/me waits eagerly for the skin to be released.. :)

@cncb: once you go with rainmeter, you never look back :P This is more than just a suite with gadgets, it's a framework in which you can build anything and personalize your windows installation any way you want it :)

looks neat!
would this replace jriver sidebar gadget? if so would we be able to still rate our songs? add keywords, playlists?
Possible to use it as mini display as it was talked about in sidebar gadget topic? that would be coool!

I have already replaced the gadget with this not all features are there yet though.
It is capable of doing anything that there is a MCxx.exe /MCC command for I don't think the
webparser has the capability of doing any sort of dynamic display due to the required update speed.

You name the features you would like other than mini display and I will see what I can do.

My plan is to eventually use RainMeter to create a full screen skin for my tablet (12" 1400x1050)
and use it instead of webremote. I just like the idea of doing things without having a web browser running.

I created a new topic with a link to the skin.
