Title: Problems after changing hard drive
Post by: RReid on February 29, 2024, 12:37:27 pm
I didn't know the procedure for updating my HD until after cloning the 2 TB and allowing MC 30 to form a new database. Problems with links and playlists, of course. So then I tried importing the old MC 28 database and running search and replace to change the drive path (trying to avoid re-doing the file transfer).
But when I activated the new database in MC 30 it started asking me to approve overwriting files one at a time and I couldn't get it to stop except through Task Manager.
What was MC 30 trying to do, and did it damage my original MC 28 files or database?
I haven't opened MC since. Any idea what's going on?

When I changed my hard drive I had Media Center closed.

Went to Disk Manager (Windows key and x at the same time, then select from the menu) and changed the new drive to the old drive letter so everything would be exactly where Media Center last saw it.

Then I opened Media Center and all was good.  Since you've opened Media Center since, go back and restore a library from before you updated the library.  Should work.
