You can now order a JRiver Media Center 26 upgrade license at a discount
Early builds of JRiver Media Center 26 are now available on the Download Page (https://jriver.com/download.html). These will improve on MC25, and MC26 will continue to improve throughout the year.
Upgrade Prices
You can use a license from any previous version of JRiver Media Center, even Media Jukebox 8.0, to upgrade.
The discounted price to upgrade for Windows, Mac or Linux is $26.98. A Master License upgrade for all three OS's is $36.98.
INSTRUCTIONS
To direct you, we need to check a few things.
1. Have you ever purchased MC?
If not, there is no upgrade price. Sorry. Here's how to download and purchase (https://jriver.com/purchase.html) a license.
2. Do you have your Registration Code for your older version?
If not, you can email it to yourself by using option #2 on the Restore Page (https://rover.jriver.com/cgi-bin/restore.cgi).
Now you're ready to purchase, but we need to know what OS you have and what license you want.
3. Are you planning to use more than one OS?
If so, you will need a Master License, which works with Windows, Mac, and Linux. You can purchase from the Help menu of a current version or you can go here:

Problems
Is your license not accepted when you upgrade?
Make sure you're on the right upgrade page.
Use copy and paste. 0 (zero) and O (letter) look alike. So do 1 (number one) and l or I (letters).
Don't have your license? Visit the Restore Page (https://rover.jriver.com/cgi-bin/restore.cgi) and use option #2 to email yourself your license(s).

I've had this software (MC25) for less than 2weeks and forked out for the Master Key only to find there is already a newer version MC26 that I could have purchased :'(.. Really not happy guys. At the date of purchase 5th Oct2019 I looked for the latest version and could only find MC25. So now having to pay again..To top it off the software is not importing all tracks, feel free to see my other post. Bitperfect here we come...
You purchased after October 1, so you have an MC26 license that will work with both MC25 and MC26.

Just purchased the MC 26 Windows upgrade, received the upgrade link (Media Center26 Windows-473343) and when I try to install on my existing copy of MC 25 (windows), it gives me an error message that "your license file is for a different product". I tried resetting the licence for the existing MC 25 (0.98), and saw that the new MC 25/26 license shows up in the window, without my having to input the license manually, but if I then hit "return" I get the same error message - "Your license file is for a different product". MC 25 still shows me as the licensee in the Registration Info Window after the license update error message.
Please advise.

I Just bought the MC26 master upgrade and restored the license for MC25.0.113. But is there a way to see if my registration in fact are for the 26, looking at "Help - Registration info..." all I see is that I have a registered master license and my MC version is 25.0.113?
Found the answer "If you purchased a new license or an upgrade license after October 1, you received an MC26 license."

Since #23, when WMA support suddenly disappeared, I find that I don't use this software much anymore. Regardless of how windows native encoding has been deprecated, I have had to use other software to convert MP3's to WMA because the hardware I play them on can't read the MP3's natively (the podcast author tweaked some setting that has broken this for years). Is there WMA encoding in this version?

We've never done a lifetime subscription. I'm skeptical of whether it's financially viable. We have a skilled team of people and they continue to have a need to eat.

I'm asking for an auto-renewing annual plan, not a pay once lifetime plan. Essentially what you have today, just without making me do something every year. :)
Edit: As a bonus, if you had an auto-renewing plan, you would eliminate all this "But I just paid and you want me to pay again?!" angst.

BuggySP - you can use the one licence to install MC on a number of computers which are owned by you with no poblem, you don't need a separate licence for each machine.

It does seem a lot quicker than normal (in fact, I haven't had a chance to install MC25 yet...), but the discounted upgrade price is their recognition of loyal customers. I do like the idea of an annual subscription model that another poster suggested (not to be confused with a lifetime license, which really isn't a good long term business model).

I decided to upgrade to a Master License in order to support you guys a bit more... and maybe I'll buy one of those nifty Mac Pro laptops next year, so there's that.

You can use one license on all "your" machines, within reason.

Every time I upgrade my licence I lose all my display/view settings and it takes ages to reconfigure my screen. Is there any way to buy an MC26 licence without losing settings? Otherwise I may pass.

I am trying to purchase an upgrade but on clicking 'Continue' after putting in my credit card details, I get the error "Please check with your card issuer (error 34398)". My card issuer says there should be no problem, I'm not sure who to contact to solve this problem.

Make sure the right box is checked for Mastercard or Visa. Also verify the CVV code.
You could switch to PayPal if you don't have luck with direct purchasing.

Have been onto the card issuer again, they insist they have received no attempt from you to my credit card. It has failed when selecting VISA and also PayPay. I have also just made two other purchases on my card which have gone through OK.

Since this payment failed I have made a payment to both Tesco and Amazon with no issue.

Same problem here re: error "Please check with your card issuer (error 34398)". This is for the Mac upgrade to MC26 from MC25. I've tried two different credit cards and my PayPal account (here in the U.S.), all with the same error. I've also used my credit card and my PayPal account for other vendor purchases earlier today with no problems.

Please re-read the first post. 25.0.113 is on the Download Page. 25.0.50 isn't the Stable build. You could also read this if you want to understand the Update Channels:

Please re-read the first post. 25.0.113 is on the Download Page. 25.0.50 isn't the Stable build. You could also read this if you want to understand the Update Channels:
The first post does not mention version numbers. The stable version, at least as held in your linux repo is 25.0.50. So apparently the stable build for Windows is not the stable build for linux, linux stable lags behind, and to use a new MC26 key on linux one needs to be on the lastest or beta channel.

MC26 isn't out yet, but the MC26 license will work in MC25.

Just a friendly suggestion: Long time satisfied user here of MediaCenter here, regularly receiving the upgrade emails which are full of offers and instructions but not much on "What's new". I searched the site for What's New and landed on a page that applies to v11.
There's a bit in the last email headed 'I'm Happy with My Old Version' which is fairly true for me. The link under "Here are all of the changes up through MC25" is a detailed release history of mostly fixes and changes. New items do exist here too but don't stand out and also give the impression that they were introduced *during* the release while features that were new *with* the release aren't shown at the beginning.
An easy to find summary of What's New for each major release might help shift some more copies.

Either wait until MC26 is released or download the current version of MC25. Your windows MC26 license will work with the current release of MC25. (Not earlier releases or versions).

Purchased my annual Master licence upgrade. No problems with it. I agree with previous posters in that I prefer having the option to buy the upgrade or stay and continue with a previous version.

agreeing with @Pogle.
Asking people to prepay now for an upgrade without saying what it's for, seems weird. Would you expect that from larger corporations like Microsoft or Apple?
Maybe make your project management board or the change requests/tickets in your code versioning system public?
Or have one of your release/product lead developer aggregate the different posts in the forum in a single pinned post per release?
Looking forward to seeing what's new to consider upgrading or not.

Yes thats true, but the price is very good. So for me as a long time user I find it nice to upgrade once or every second year and can do so for a good price. The software runs stable and sound good as it is. So for me its more to get the major upgrades in facelifts and some new futures like the web interface etc. For me its a deal. But I agree that I only know that they always work on new feutures and bugfixes so I wanna support that work for a kinda small payment.

I want to purchase a v 26 Master license upgrade, but am in Northern Calif. and had to evacuate my house because of the fires. I paid but cannot install new Registration code until I get back to my PC. Is this going to pose any problems?

If you purchased MC26, the license will be available when you need it. Just use option #2 on our Restore Page to mail it to yourself.

I have purchased multiple versions before... latest paid version is 22. If i purchase 26 today my understanding is i will be able to use 25 as well. My question is will i also be able to use 24? It may sound like an odd question but due to multiple zones in my house i utilize different versions for each and presently need 3 different versions.

I've been a long time user and am aware of multi zone capabilities but I've got a very large server-side application used to automate and control via IOS devices which utilizes the command line method. It's much easier to do all the things i'm doing using independent process for each zone aka mc%version%.exe /mcc #####,## as an example.

pretty sure that only applies to sales when a new version is being developed, not the entire duration of that version

I recently purchased a MC26 licence and updated from MC23 to MC25 (Windows version, 64-bit on Windows 10). Now every time I reboot my computer I get a permissions alert about JRiver wanting to make changes to my computer (which I allow) - even though it is apparently already running the latest (stable) version of MC25. This has occurred multiple times. Is it a known glitch? How to fix?

A license is valid only for the version it is for, eg. right now all licenses we sell are MC26 license, plus the newest version of the previous MC release, which means you can use it in MC25 build 114, and in the future in MC26, but not in MC27 or in MC24.
And no, we do not sell older licenses.
For the record, wanting to run 3 versions sounds bizarre. Even if they "all have Blu-ray Menu support", the support won't be the same, as it further improves over time.

Hi Guys,
I never hear about Id users in these general conversations.
I have an Id and I understand that MC is never made available to it until stable (not sure if that is stable on main platforms or on the Id, if the latter then who is doing the testing when its not available for Id before going to Stable!!!)
So my question here is, can I get 'early adopters' benefits IE 30% off while using my Id ? I'm still smarting that I have to wait for the most up to date MC version because I use the Id.
I know I'm not popular bringing this up again but I do feel secondary and 'down the line' from what I can only term the primary mainstream platforms.
MC is a great product but I'm really wondering if I should revert to a generic OS platform rather than the bespoke ID.

The Id gets all MC updates included automatically, you don't need to buy an upgrade at all.
The Id is also currently running MC 25.0.113, the same as the mainline Linux version available. So its not actually behind at all.

that is very good news. So if I'm running MC25 now and I pay no further fees I'll automatically get updated to MC26, 27, etc as they become available ? Thats a good deal but I'm surprised that ID users aren't expected to contribute to developement too. My point in the email was the ID didn't get the most uptodate MC version until many months after initial release.
Is this really the case (Id users don't pay???)

Yes the ID is now running the same as the main line Linux version but there was a long lag in between - I know the reasoning, but none the less there is still a lag.
The position is somewhat offset by ALL updates being provided at no fee. I would happily pay my way for uptodate versions being available for the ID at the same time as mainstream versions. Is the reason that we don't have sufficient early adopters, Beta, etc ?

I have a Master License for JRMC25. Is there a link I can just buy the upgrade for the Windows only? I have the Master License for many years, probably from since the first time you offered it. I use MC only on my work PC. But on my Mac, I use other programs the has Tidal/Qobuz integration. I normally use a music server to play music in my main system.

Nope. Tidal integration in MC is very unlikely (try doing a search of the forums to find out why).

I have MC 25.0.1.114 installed and and still get a popup "Your License file is for a different product." While true, how can I be sure that my MC26 license is installed? I've upgraded nearly every year, frequently with the early purchase discount, for nearly a decade and don't recall this confusion.
Assuming the license did install, the message would be better if it stated "Installed successfully!" The current message is confusing. And does it really matter if it is for a different version if it covers the current version and the next version?

I recently purchased MC 25 (10/13/19) and had problems accessing my library so I purchased of MC 26 but was not identified by the program and paid retail for a Masters lic. can this be corrected? also where can I find info on accessing a nas library?

I'm using JRiver MC25, but I seem to miss the pre-order deadline for MC26 (I didn't receive any email informing about the pre order). Can I still purchase MC26 at upgrade price ($22.98)? If yes, how should I pay? Thanks

I upgraded on the special offer for MC26. I am on the MAC version and was advised to go ahead and install 25 since that will be needed when 26 for MAC is ready. I did so and have been using 25 for a few weeks. Suddenly I am locked out because "Your trial period has expired". I was not signed up for a trial, the upgrade to 26 is supposed to cover the interim use of 25. I keep getting auto-generated emails listing my license for 24 but it won't accept that. Jim, I think it was you that made this go away earlier. Can you help me? Thanks!

Hi, I've MC25 installed on a Linux machine which I use (also) for development and testing and I've consumed all of the 10 allowed restores sooner than planned.
I wonder whether upgrading to MC26 from MC25 would reset the counter of allowed restores right from the start... is it so?

I reset your restores just now. An MC26 license will work with the latest build of MC25.
To extend your restores, you can use the Install Key for 14 days and you can use the trial period.

I have downloaded MC26, but when I open MC26 it is still showing version MC25. I entered my licence registration code for MC26 and it still shows version MC25 when I open it. I have tried restoring my licence and it says it has successfully loaded my registration for MC26 but the version is still incorrect, MC25, when I open. Please help.

Hi, I have been a happy customer of JRiver for many years. In November I purchased an upgrade to MC26. When MC 26 got available I downloaded and installed it and automatically it recognized that I had bought the upgrade, all good.
However; I just installed 26.0.18 and suddenly the registration info was lost and I was told I had 30 days left of trial period. I had deleted the reg. mail, so I requested to be sent the Reg. Codes by mail. But in the mail I got there was no restore for MC 26. Every version from 12 to 25 was there but not the one I needed. I checked with my bank and yes, money (19.98$) was transferred from my account to JRiver Inc on 7. November.
What has happened? What do I do?

I upgraded from MC23 to 26 but ran into a problem. I deleted MC 23 and purchased MC26. When attempting to restore my license I get a message "Your license file is not valid for Media Center" and I am then asked if I would like to purchase an upgrade. I did copy and paste my Registration code. Any thoughts

I think I may have accidentally deleted the restore for MC 26 and was using the MC 23 restore that was originally emailed to me for the upgrade. I may need another mc 26 license restore emailed to me. Does that seem correct

I have Windows 7 and just doubled clicked on the MC26 installer file and it gives me an error message that "your license file is for a different product". It has nothing to do with the license because I haven't entered a license yet—I'm just trying to launch the installer.
The instructions clearly say that the update works with any previous activation. But I'm seeing MC26 only works with MC24. So I have MC23. Does that mean I have to install 24, 25 first..?

Double check that you're running the file you downloaded. It ends in .exe .
MC26 won't work with an older license. It will run as a trial version for 30 days.

My old computer crashed and won't start. All I have is an old key and not my license, and not my registration code. I've tried every email I could think of to recover my license but can't get one to work. I was running version 19, which I know is quite old. Any suggestions? I haven't found anything useful in the forum. I would like to at least upgrade instead of buying as a new purchase.

I am in quite a pickle after purchasing and installing the MC26 upgrade back in November of 2019. I have multiple versions of MC on my Windows 10 ASUS SSD laptop.. 22, 23, 25, and now 26. I purchased and downloaded MC26..during the installation/upgrade, something went very wrong... Now, the only version on my laptop that works is 22. All others are corrupt and either don't work, or actually lock up my W10 OS. I even had a friend help me install JRemote, and it worked perfectly until the MC26 download and install attempt... would appreciate some assistance in getting at least MC25 working again. Since I have already paid for MC26 and have a verified license key, I'd like to give that a go as well.

Why not try MC26 first?
Take a look at the Windows Defender thread here and follow the instructions in it. Don't use another antivirus program.
Provide more details next time on exactly what happens.

I did try MC26 right after the download, using my MC26 license. It locked up my PC.
I'm not sure what my ASUS laptop is using for virus protection.. I don't think I added a third party program, but I'll check the thread and see what I am using.
I'll give it another try and document the effort as best I can.

When you say it locked up your PC, what exactly happens. It could appear unresponsive even though it's working. Try waiting.

Well, I'll be a monkey's uncle! I downloaded the latest MC26 version, extracted the zip, and ran the program. Amazingly (to me anyway) my Asus laptop remembers my MC26 license key and automatically loaded when I chose "yes".
I now have 7 out of 12 restores left this year (?? Guess I used up 3 last Novemeber?) What I must add though was that both 25 and 26 were corrupt and had no chance of working back in November 2019 when I first attempted this upgrade. No matter. It works now and I'm listening to it now. Sounds Great to hear it again! Oh, and I performed the Defender fixes on MC22 and 23, which were the only versions left on my laptop... perhaps that helped...
Only one problem now: My JRemote app on my iPad Mini2 won't connect to my Asus laptop. Everything was fine when using MC25. I was fortunate to have a very knowledgable computer friend who talked me through the initial setup, so I'm totally lost as to how to proceed as he is traveling now. Any input and/or tutorials would be appreciated.

Just purchased the MC 26 Windows upgrade, received the upgrade link (Media Center26 Windows-495214) and when I try to install on my existing copy of MC 22 (for Windows as well), it gives me an error message that "your license file is for a different product" and doesn't let me do anything else.
What should I do? Should I uninstall my MC22?

That's usually an antivirus problem.
What OS? Is it 32 bit or 64 bit? If 32, try the 32 bit version of MC.

I am trying to update from 25 to 26.
When I enter my Registration Code and hit enter (or try and purchase a full master license) I see this:
Error This Product is no longer for Sale
A newer version is available on Download Page.
Can someone take a look at this?

Recientemente he adquirido un dac con una licencia para el jriver version 19. Yo tenia instalado en mi pc la version de prueba de jriver 26 por lo que al introducir el codigo de licencia de la version 19 me decia que tenia que pagar para actualizar. Mi sorpresa ha sido que al desinstalar la version 26 e instalar la version 19 el programa aunque me dice que ha restaurado la licencia correctamente solo me da los 30 dias de prueba. Yo tengo una licencia completa para la version 19 por lo que podria utilizar dicha version sin problemas.

He reinstalado el programa y la licencia varias veces sin exito. El problema creo que es que he instalado una licencia de jriver 19 directamente por primera vez en una version jriver26. Cuando reinstalo la licencia en jriver 19 me dice que se ha instalado con exito pero en la pestaña de informacion de registro me dice que no esta registrado y me da los 30 dias de prueba.

I deleted my previous question since I was able to successfully load version 26. Now I am having issues scanning my library thru import.
I select for the media center to look @ drive E which is my Drobo. It will scan for little while and then stop, and the program will exit. I have 14 TB on the drive and it is only recognizing about half??
I have multiple file sets with different paths, FLAC 16, FLAC 24, DSD, and SACD.
Should I just scan each file set individually instead of loading them into auto configure at once?

I am trying to purchase an upgrade but on clicking 'Continue' after putting in my credit card details, I get the error "Please check with your card issuer (error 34398)". My card issuer says there should be no problem, I'm not sure who to contact to solve this problem.
