A similar topic was posted 6 month ago: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=102090.0
But the problem remains unresolved until now.
I made some attempts, found that MC can play 32-bit(int) WAV and AIFF audio files(uncompressed format). But 32-bit ALAC files(compressed format) play silence in MC 21.
According to the previous post, 32-bit(int) FLAC format has the same problem in MC 21.
It is noteworthy that there are two format of 32-bit audio file, integer and float. However, 32-bit float audio files can't be compressed in ALAC or FLAC. So we're talking about 32-bit integer format audio file.

Could you make a sample of one of the files that won't play available to me? I'm matt at jriver dot com.
Thanks.

Thanks.
Samples has been sent.(A RAR file which contains WAV and ALAC files)
The ALAC file was generated by iTunes (converted from a 32-bit int WAV file).
Please check.
Thank you.

I renamed the m4a file to wav and it started playing perfectly!

This phenomenon seems pretty interesting.
Is it possible to fix this problem in the next version of MC 21?
-
We will fix it.

Interesting. What does the header of the file say? Is it really a WAV, or is it ALAC as advertised?

It starting to work then is a red herring, as it plays unrecognized WAV files through another part of the playback engine.
It is actually m4a and alac, and we'll make it work.

Hi,
I try to update the latest version MC 21 .
But the problem still exists in version 21.0.89.
Is this problem very difficult to fix?
Thank you.
-
Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your point of view), this is not the only issue we work on, so fixing such problems can take some time as other issues or tasks we work on have to be finished first.
Sometimes small tasks can be squeezed in, sometimes its better for us to finish something thats in-progress first.
So in short, we'll fix it, but we don't give an ETA on a fix :) Patience, friend!
When it is fixed, it'll be listed in the changelog, and we'll likely update this thread as well.

This should be fixed in the next build now.
