just downloaded mediacenter for Mac. I have it running on a Mac Mini headless sharing the screen with a macbook air.
The music plays fine but I want to set up JRemote and I need to activate Tools/options/media center. I click on Tools/options and nothing happens. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?
Thanks

Are you connected to the machine directly?

I use screen sharing on my macbook air to control the mini where JRiver resides.

Could be related.

Can't get remote to work. Going back to Audirvana. Wish I hadn't spent $12.00 on a worthless app.

I would probably try to quit MC on the mini. Then restart it and before you do anything else, try to open the Options dialog. If that still doesn't work, I would recommend trying a different remote access system. Team Viewer is extremely sophisticated, reliable, fast, and configurable. It's free for personal use. The paid version is SUPER expensive, but personal use doesn't require a license.
There are also several VNC variants available, but (as I understand it) OSX "screen sharing" is actually using VNC under the covers. So using a different VNC server/client may or may not be helpful. I'd try Team Viewer.
It's an odd problem. I'll be interested to hear what you find. Good luck!

The problem you're seeing is almost certain to be one with the remote desktop app you're using, not with MC or JRemote.

First of all I would like to apologize for my late night grumpiness.
I was able to bring up the media center dialog after shutting JRiver down and restarting it. I have an access key but JRemote is complaining about a connection failure. I believe I have to make some changes in my router concerning ports. I will have a look through the documentation.
JRiver plays my music files with no problem and I like the interface. My complaint with Audirvana is the lack of an IOS remote which means I have to use my macbook to control it. I have high hopes for JRiver and JRemote.
Thank you everyone for your responses.

Got JRemote working, My ipad was connected to a different network from my Macbook. Dumb!
Really like the interface with JRemote. Looking forward to testing out JRiver.
