Title: New GPU's comming out (esp nvidia)?
Post by: jmone on October 09, 2013, 03:37:42 am
I'm really happy with my 660 in the HTPC (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=75639.0) but want to replace an older 550ti in my main PC.  Any news on what is what goodies are coming out from NVidia in the near future (else I'll just get another 660).
Thanks
Nathan

660Ti seems to offer the best bang for the buck. It swaps places with the 760 in the benchmarks I've seen but its a lot cheaper and (theoretically) lower power usage (I've not compared data on that, its hard enough to find benchmarks to compare across sites and tests).

If I were in the market for a new midrange card I'd probably get one of those.

Cheapest 660Ti I can get here is an Asus GTX660 TI-DC2-3GD5 for 179 euros, 760's start at 230.

AMD's new cards launch next week I think, Nvidia will be Q1 2014. Well, there may be a 790 and price cuts before then, but nothing else.

Very strange, Nvidia usually moves the cards up a class with each generation. (760 should perform like a 670, which should perform like a 580 etc.)
