When you are playing music with Media Center 25, you can right-click the display area if you have it set to "Cover Art" and pick "Artist Images...".
This will play a slideshow of artist images from online sources in the Playing Now area.
It should be a way to add a little interest to what's playing.
Please post any questions or comments here. Thanks.

Is this the same as the images shown in TheaterView?
-
The lookup routine is similar, but the images show where the cover art normally is in the display window, not Theater View.
-
Would it be possible to display a biography / discography rather than images
- I for one would find that far more useful and interesting as I tend to listen to Radio Paradise and being able to pop that when I heard a track I like would be great rather than having to switch to laptop to get the info
-
Try the "Wiki" link in the upper right corner.

Thanks :)

Hmm, quite weird, I get strange pictures with this nice option: Currently listening to Genesis - That's all and get some car pictures or ovens ;D
-
try Rockgroup ASIA ;D

try Rockgroup ASIA ;D
Fixed next build:
Fixed: Playing ASIA and Genesis would not show good artist images.
Thanks for the report.

Artist images that come up for either "Boston" or "Yes" are probably not what is intended for this feature... ;D

The Band Lettuce had some great images too. :) Sort of an impromptu trivia game started.
Romaine!, Iceberg! etc
We play both Audio and Video clips on pool night.
If we set the display for Artist images, it works fine until a video is played, then the next audio is reset to cover view.
Very nice addition though. I asked for something like the Theater View artist images, and now here it is.
Great! Thanks!
Don

MUWAHAHA How about The String Cheese Incident?

I have folders with fanart in each Artist folder... any way to configure it to also show local fanart?
(similar to Artist Slideshow Kodi plugin)
Mainly interested for use in Theaterview.

I was listening to Toto this weekend and kept getting a Toto Toilet (https://www.totousa.com/products/toilets) in the picture rotation. :)

Bet that made you flush :(

Bonus points for that. ;)

How about an option to show a track's existing Cover Art (I carefully select mine), but if a track has no Art, show the new Artist Images?
And maybe a variation of this, an option to show both existing Cover Art and Artist Images as a slide show of sorts?

Where on-screen can Artist Images be used? In a Playing Now HTML/CSS page similar to Cover Art?
For more than a decade I've used a carefully designed Playing Now Info page, the left side showing all kinds of info about the current track, the right side showing Cover Art if it exists. Visitors to my home quickly learn to dash to the PC when an interesting song plays to learn all about it (I hope I've sold a few MCs to them as a result).
But, only a portion of my 80 thousand tracks have Cover Art (all assigned manually, the automatic methods don't provide enough valid results). I'll never get around to finding all the appropriate images. So... If Artist Images could automatically be shown when Cover Art doesn't exist, and/or along with Cover Art, that would make my Playing Now more interesting.
MC would need options to control this. MC would intercept the action that loads Cover Art from the playing file, and decide whether to show that image, or Artist Image if Cover Art doesn't exist, or intermix if both exist, as specified by the user.

MusicHawk, by "Playing Now Info page" I assume you are referring to a custom Track Info plugin. It would be fantastic if this this new Artist Images feature could be called up in Track Info plugins! I use "Modern Cards - Even Blacker Edition", which would be even better with this added ability.

The French new-age group "Era" also throws up some interesting, but completely unrelated images !
Cheers,

This has the potential to be a long thread full of weird band names.
The bands Sleep and Earth also pull up images that are unrelated to the bands.
-
The band Garbage shows some unfortunate images too.
How about a thread where people post images that JRiver has shown and we have to guess the band?

The band Garbage shows some unfortunate images too.
I've run into a few artists that show unfortunate images when I'm in theater mode. There's a setting in Options (can't remember the spot at the moment) that allows you to checkbox the sources of the images. When I unchecked google images, the unfortunate images were no longer seen. (note: I was not logged in to google, so I could not tell google what types of images I wanted)
But here is a suggestion that I have... can there be an easy toggle between the image processing that I routinely see when I'm listening to tunes, and a mode where only the cover art that I've added is shown.
Here's my use case: When I'm listening to tunes, I like the variety of images. However, there are times when I'm using MC for background music for a, say, dinner party with kids present. I want to be sure that the images on the TV screen are appropriate (something I do with the cover art I use).
This is not a high priority thing for me, as I now just turn off the screen during those dinner parties with kids. But I do like to show off MC and leaving the TV screen on helps to that end. :)

The option you are referring to is Tools>Options>Theater View>Theme>Online Media Show, I already have Google unselected here but unfortunately this does not affect the Artist Images in Playing Now.

There is a problem that the artist image is too random.
I think it would be nice if you could be able to stream the images of the specified folder for each song.
-
Shellac has always brought up lots of unrelated images.

Next build will have this tweak:
Changed: Made artist image lookup key into the fact that it's a music artist a little better (so playing bands with animal names, etc. will show better matches).
