Title: Feasibility...alexa..raspberry..nas
Post by: Starkx on December 29, 2017, 11:09:04 am
So I have a venerable qnap NAS which doesn't  support  media centre but which has twonky on as a dnla server... presumably I can ignore twonky.

I know I can install jriver  to a raspberry pi but will this then happily stream files from the NAS.  I don't  want to move the files from where they are currently.

Having done this I presume that houseband will nicely interface the alexa .

Has anyone  done this kind of setup as I am loathe to go through the expense if it is infeasible

Its entirely feasible, indeed exactly the way many users run JRiver (perhaps not including the Alexa aspect at the moment).

The only limitation (and someone correct me if I'm wrong) is audio only.

I believe this to be correct, in regards to using MC on a Pi. Don't think a Pi is powerful enough to handle video - I could be wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised.
